About this ebook
"An impressively ingenious reframing of the chaotic domino effect caused by King Tut's death & the tantalizing possibility of his line's survival."
--------------------
Did the Amarna line really end with King Tut's Death?
Ancient Egypt.1324 BC.
The last living male descendant of the Amarna line, Pharaoh Tutankhamun, has died suddenly under mysterious circumstances. His wife, Queen Ankhesenamen, is left without a male heir. The ambitious vipers Ay and Horemheb are nipping at her heels in their bid to seize power.
Queen Ankhe has but one hope to maintain her hold on the throne - an alliance with the Hittites. With Ay and Horemheb watching her every move, there is only one person she can trust to save her and her line - a girl, a slave: Ida.
----------------------------------------------
Amarna is a ridiculously, historically accurate drama set in Ancient Egypt, Hattusa & Syria that is centered around the strange but true events surrounding the battle for the throne of Egypt following Pharaoh Tutankhamun's death and the interconnected events that took place in the Hittite empire.
It includes an end matter feature that details what did and didn't really happen (at least as far as historians believed at the time it was written).

Grea (pronounced Gray) Alexander is a female writer of African American, Native American and French descent who does not write her profiles in the 3rd person. Born and raised in Houston, TX, I have successfully wormed my way across many a border and have, in effect, managed to infect all that I survey with my particular brand of grea-ness. My books are very character-driven with a focus on flawed, dynamic, culturally-diverse characters and strong, smart female protagonists. Also, please note: I do not write children's books. My books are for adults. My books contain adult themes, adult situations, sexual situations, cursing, intoxication and violence. Some books have more than others. Some characters engage more than others. If you find such offensive, you might not want to read my work. Then again, you just might feel naughty and want to read them anyway. Reviews for Amarna Book I

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I got off on the wrong foot with this book after reading the author's introduction and it affected my view of the book. I kept losing track of the story as it transitioned, and would have appreciated some background on the naming conventions. Characters were variably referred to as a root name by itself or with two different suffixes; at first, it wan't obvious to me that these were the same. The story is full of intrigue and is interesting, but the presentation is clunky. If you are interested in ancient Egypt and have greater understanding of the history, you may enjoy this more than I did. I received a free copy of this book through Member Giveaways in exchange for a review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5If you like historical novels, this novella will grab you fast. in Egypt, 1274 BC, Queen Tuya has been given a great task by her dying father 0 to care for a set of scrolls, "the knowledge of your past." After he dies she takes then and starts reading them...Ida - Idaten, loves Tutankhaten, the young King of Egypt. This novella details the life and affair betwixt the two and after his death, the life of Ida as she is pregnant with Tut's son, and what happens after. Just as it gets to a part where you must know what happens next, Queen Tuya is interrupted and the novella ends. I for one will be looking for the next novella to come out.On a side note, the book needs one more polish for typos as there are enough to make my reading stumble a bit (I'm a speed reader).
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story of Ida is one that is worth pursuing through to it's end. My only disagreement with it is the ending. While I will not spoil it here there was a loose end or two that would need to be resolved unless future books show more.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I found this book hard to read. It's stilted, dry, and frankly the narrative is childish. I hate to be so negative about a book that does a good job of keeping to history without dramatic license, I really do. This book also needs serious formatting work, words aren't properly capitalized, and numbers appear as numerals instead of words, which is jarring.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Using research on Wikipedia, the names, times, characters took form. a time and place I am not familiar with, a bit of a challenge for me to read. I would enjoy learning more, from a historical view, the culture is sought after, being rich in King Tut, period upbringing, including a young girl, Idaten's struggles, and conflicts with hierarchy, Almost biblical sea scrolls, to represent authority. the end leads to curiosity, and hopes for a sequel. thank you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I won this ebook along with 2 others from the same author from LibraryThing Members Giveaway in exchange for an honest review. And boy am I glad that I did. I am hooked! An ancient story written in a contemporary style but captivating all the same. Amarna Book 1: Book of Ida, follows the trials of Idaten, a slave girl, a childhood playmate and sweetheart of two well known characters from ancient Egyptian history. The book's language may be modern but the story is as ancient as time itself, conspiracy, murder, spying and plotting and in all this betrayal, love still manages to survive. So glad I won this book and eagerly awaiting the next in this series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was given a free copy of the e-book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to the author, Grea Alexander.Fascinating story. Some of the modern day phrases in the book were a little jarring, given the time period. I'm not a fan of multiple-novella storytelling, or books broken into pieces. I realize the cliffhanger ending was designed to suck me into the next novella or book, but I didn't feel like this part of the story was done.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received this book as an ebook free from the author through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. This is a fascinating story and I do enjoy reading historical fiction about Egypt. I had difficulty at times following the story. It was quite choppy and the characters and story didn’t seem to be fully developed. I do prefer reading this type of story as a longer complete story with the story and characters more fully developed rather than short portions in several books. I have difficulty following the story and remembering all the characters and their relationships with these novellas.
