Chapter: One
The Day
Sunday: Memorial Day weekend 21:00 hours.
9-11 Lincoln Square, Worcester, Massachusetts.
Chief Swanson is looking haggard; as she first glances at the pile of reports on the cluttered desk in front of her and then to the chaos outside the office.
Lieutenant Jennings stuck his head into her office and yelled.
I got the witnesses in interrogation rooms A and B; let me know when you are ready boss.
"Jesus H. Christ! Are you totally insane Jennings? Those are two kids you are talking about, and so far we can't raise their parents. Which means; those children, are probably orphans now. And just in case you have forgotten; they are the only two witnesses we have for what happened today.
Find a policewoman and make sure she is not in uniform, to take the girl; you grab the boy and escort them both to the restroom, then get them a bite to eat. Give them Ice-cream, or whatever you feed kids these days, and then bring them to me."
Sure thing boss!
The lieutenant was gone before another task could be thrown his way. It had been like this since eleven in the morning, and from the looks of things; it was only going to get worse.
