I started in photography after having four children of my own. I wanted tons of pictures of them but didn't have the money to spend on the professional portraits. So, I decided to get a diploma in photography and take my kids' portraits myself. I just love it. The portrait on my profile is my granddaughter. I have read tons of books on photography, taken many more classes, and realized you never stop learning in this field of work. I hope to share some of my education with others like me.

Preface
Taking newborn portraits can be easy, fun, and very profitable. The poses and lighting techniques in this book are simple to do, and are very sweet and natural looking. Parents love this look because it focuses on their baby, instead of a lot of props and busy backdrops. These poses are great for storyboards, portrait books and canvases, as well as the usual wall portraits. With just a little equipment, some cute hats and blankets, and a bean bag, you can take amazing portraits of newborns and make a good amount of income doing so.

Equipment
Taking newborn portraits does not require a ton of equipment or props. Start with a few different colored large blankets. Queen size will work best. Or, if you would rather, 5x7 muslin portrait backdrops can be used.
Next, you will need a backdrop stand or something to clamp your backdrop or blanket to. It must be at least as wide as the blanket or backdrop you are using, so that you don't have wrinkles.
You will also need a large, somewhat firm bean bag. You will be posing the newborn on this bag. Some small pillows, folded blankets, and a neck pillow will come in handy when you are posing the baby, so make sure you have some of
