    This is the story of Marcus, a young Roman legionnaire and of his friend Septimus, who, in 212 AD, fall prey to corruption and are sentenced to the galleys. What follows is their escape and flight (a virtual travelogue of the ancient world), trying to find a safe haven on the edges of the Empire. In far off Panonnia, the two friends find life and love among horse nomads drifting in from the east, and experience many trials on the volatile borderland threatened by barbarian incursions.

    BIO: Nearing retirement, I now have more time to devote to writing (and if I don’t, I squeeze the day until there is a space/time to crawl into). Over the past 15 years, I have worked on 15 books, three of which (of the Dreamcast series) are self-published.My website, http://www.PaulTelegdi.ca gives a full account of my life and accomplishments, which I shall not repeat here.The thumbnail version: I was born in Hungary; when young immigrated to Canada with my family, attended University of Waterloo, Ontario, where I met my wife. Spent years in West Germany where my wife was studying music while I was learning German. Returning to Canada, we ended up on a farm in Ontario with pets.
