Do you believe in Magick?
Blinding white light emanated from their shields and lightning bolts of blue and violet shot out of their swords, knocking everyone to the ground.
For a brief moment, time stood still.
CHAPTER 1
Cernuous stood before the council. Ancient eyes followed him as he paced back and forth.
A quasar of prayers and supplications pierced through the center of the council chamber. Sandalphon’s long arm stretched out from the beam of light and handed them to Raziel (aka Archie). With overfilled arms, Archie collected them and placed them at the base of the throne. As soon as one batch disappeared, the archangel replaced it with another.
I’m having trouble keeping up today!
he said as he returned for another load.
Cernuous grunted. The situation has gone too far. As much as I disdain interfering in the affairs of humans, I believe the time has come.
What do you propose?
asked Raguel.
My daughter Sehkmet,
he said.
Jophiel shook his head, The last time we sent her, she got a little too bloodthirsty.
She was younger then. She lacked the self-control she has now and just needed a little guidance. Besides, she has Tias now. It was no coincidence Providence chose the king of the Vampyres to be her mate.

Evidence of a 4000 year old battle found in Qamishili, Syria.
Vincent sipped from the goblet while he read.
If they only knew,
he said to himself.
His head bowed, his ebony eyes waxed over, his vision faded, and distant memories invaded his mind’s eye.
Knew what?
Elizabeth asked, pouring a cup of coffee.
The aroma of roasted beans filled the kitchen. The coffee maker gurgled, puffed out a cloud of steam, and brought him back to the present.
Vincent snapped the paper, folding and placing it on the table. They found Urkesh’s ruins.
Elizabeth’s eyebrows furrowed, and a tear fought its way to the surface. She stopped stirring her coffee. That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.
There was sadness in her voice. She joined her husband at the kitchen table.
We are going to have to keep an eye on what they uncover.
He tapped the table with a finger. Traveling plans are in our future.
What about the commencement ceremonies?
Her voice grew in pitch. I’m the guest speaker this year!
She plopped a spoon of sugar in her cup and stirred her coffee, forgetting she didn’t use sugar.
We will just have to relocate it,
he said. We can use the cover of an archeological convention at the hotel. That way we won’t raise suspicion when we visit the site. Archie can get us the credentials we need.
It’s a volatile area, sweetheart,
she said.
No more than it was back then.
The matter was no longer up for discussion.
A flash of light announced a third person joining them at the breakfast table. It was Archie, the chairman of the Provincial Council.
Someone mentioned my name?
The angel’s appearance made them smile.
Vincent scooped up the paper. I guess you know.
He waved the newspaper at him.
Archie nodded, It was the first topic for discussion at the Council this morning. All the necessary arrangements have been made. The commencement ceremony will be held at the Ebla Hotel. There’s not much of a choice in the area right now. You will take flight 223 on Syrian Air; that will get you to Damascus; from there, you will take a connecting flight to Qamishili. I do not have to remind you that it is of the utmost importance there be no trace of evidence found.
Although it was standard procedure to keep the Magick under wraps, they all knew too well that any discovery could not only change the history of mankind but also cause an international incident.
CHAPTER 2
The past: Elizabeth’s childhood in Providence.
Morning light streamed through delicate lace curtains into Elizabeth’s room. Tiny prisms danced across a beam of light. A gentle tap at the door broke her reverie, and an angel answered it. The master is here,
he announced.
Flashing a smile, her olive eyes sparkled. Elizabeth bounded down long white marble steps. She was headed to meet her tutor, Merlin. Today they were on their way to the Hall of Knowledge where all the significant works of the universe
