I am going to show you the path. I cannot make you walk it, but I promise to teach you how you can start making a 400% increase in your income, just like I did.
I wish you the very best of luck on your birth business path.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate this book to three dear friends.
April, you are the one who finally encouraged me through the door of putting this content together. You were my inspiration in owning a part of who I am, and my passion for helping doulas to grow.
Marie, you are my balance to everything. You have been my business partner since the beginning. You have supported me through the roughest times of my personal and business life. You are truly a gift to me.
Amy, you may not be a doula, but you doula me constantly. You are, and
always will be, there when I need you.
Thank you.
My Birth Path
I first learned the term Doula
many years ago. I was at a point my life where I was thinking that maybe, someday; I might want to have a baby of my own. I came from a family where giving birth was a natural normal process. My mother gave birth un-medicated
to 8 of 9 children - and it would have been a grand total of 9 but my sister was a footling breach so a cesarean section was her only option.
So, for me, the idea of having an un-medicated
birth was just part of my being and who I wanted to be. I saw it as my best first
step into motherhood that I could offer myself.
As I began to research all of the elements that can help a mother experience a great un-medicated birth, it was then when I saw it, Doula
– The word doula comes from the ancient Greek meaning a woman who serves
and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
When I read those words my mind finally found a feeling of peace. Not only did I know that I wanted to have a doula for my birth, but I knew that I wanted to be one. I wanted to feel the sheer joy that came with supporting a mother through one of the most amazing experiences in her life, while giving birth in peace and love. I knew that this was my inner most calling, I wanted to be A Woman Who Serves.
I immediately began researching the process of becoming a Doula
and less than six months later I was in doula training. I drank in every ounce of information. I was swimming in knowledge, facts, comfort techniques and birth tricks. It was truly my first experience with The Birth High
and I knew that I was on the right path when my trainer chose me to be the example for the class. During a role playing exercise she told me she loved how I was able to help my expectant mom
to regain her focus and come back into a calm space. She said, You have truly found your calling Marinda, you are a natural.
And she was right.
About a year later it was my turn to experience my first birth. I was going to see what it was like through my own eyes and discover how truly amazing and invaluable a doula would and could be. I envisioned myself having a short, peaceful birth. I would arrive at the hospital and soon after, be holding my brand new beautiful baby boy in my arms. Having said that,
