I am a poet, a playwright and an actress. Recently I completed a tour performing my poetry, improvisational poetry and improvisational singing to the West Coast. I have also performed my one-woman play "An Angel Cried A Tear Last Night" as a keynote at conferences, universities and theater festivals. After touring this play for the past several years coast to coast in the United States and Canada, I have received so many positive stories about real change that I know that its message is very powerful. When I am not writing or performing, I love spending time out in nature, it recharges my creativity. You can read more about me and bringing me out to lead workshop or perform at InspiredToSpeak.com.

Why I Published My Poetry Collection
Ever since I was a little girl, my writing was a place that I could escape to. In school, if I was bored in class or the teacher was teaching something that made me feel awful, such as war, I would escape those feelings by writing poetry and stories in the margins of my notebooks. Unlike daydreaming and gazing out the window, this form of escape never drew the attention of a teacher because it looked like I was taking notes. And thus I received a ton of practice in writing.
The poems that I wrote always gave me hope, whether it was a poem that I wrote to inspire myself or one that I wrote so that my anger about a particular situation would be understood, I felt better after writing them down. Then I would read the poems that I wrote, that reconfirmed to myself that most my poetry was really good. As an added bonus, my writing also got praise and excellent grades from my teachers. Another way that I used my poetry was to be heard by my parents. If I said how I felt about a certain subject, they would most likely ignore what I said but if instead I wrote a poignant poem about how I felt, they would frequently listen.
