About this ebook

Just Looking was a Top 5 Finalist Medal Winner in the Best Indie Book Awards in short fiction.

If you enjoyed the Golden Girls, you will love these colorful characters who live and work in a nursing home.

This story is about resilience and strength of character as Alice uses her sharp wit as she attempts to accept her new life and make the best of her new situation.

Just Looking was only intended to be a short story. This is it. Because Alice had more to say, it is now a full-length novel called Just Wondering.

Author

Jianna Higgins

Jianna was born in Auckland, New Zealand. She also has an American birth certificate! She loves taking her dogs to the beach, and sliding on snow with breaks for chocolate.Jianna is the author of the multi-award-winning SORRENTO SERIES about people who work or live in a nursing home. She believes in happy endings! The idea for the first book germinated when she started contemplating her future demise, and she wondered what it would be like to have to move into a nursing home against her will like her own Kiwi and American grandmothers. They didn’t go quietly. The characters are combinations of people she has encountered in her life, from kind to cranky, and ill-tempered to feisty. They all had their own unique story.Jianna is working on a fifth novel in the SORRENTO SERIES called Just Christmas: Charlotte’s story of finding peace. She has completed book one in the SILVER SLEUTH SERIES called Atlantic City Attitude and is writing book two called Boston Betrayal. In this new series, Alice hires herself out as a private instigator. Yes, you read that right. She instigates finding the truth.*AWARDS** First Place Winner Book Excellence Awards in Friendship for Just Saying* Silver Medal winner Global Ebook Awards in Inspirational Fiction for Just Saying* Finalist Medal winner Readers' Favorite Book Awards in Realistic Fiction for Just Saying* First Place winner in LYRA Book Awards in Women's Fiction for Just Saying* First Place Medal winner Book Excellence Awards for Just Kidding* Silver Medal winner in Global Ebook Awards in Humor for Just Kidding* Honorable Mention medal in Readers' Favorite Book Awards in Humor for Just Wondering* Gold Medal winner in Global Ebook Awards in Popular Literature Fiction for Just Wondering* Gold Medal winner in Global Ebook Awards in Humor category for Just Wondering* Top 5 finalist in Readers' Favorite International Book Awards in Women's Fiction for Just Wondering* First Place Winner Book Excellence Awards in Friendship for Just Going* Honorable Mention medal in Global Ebook Awards in Popular Literature Fiction for Just Going* Shortlisted finalist in Writers' Village International Novel Award for Just Going* Semi-finalist in Kindle Best Indie Book Awards in Young Adult for Just Going* Top 5 finalist in Kindle Best Indie Book Awards in Short Fiction for Just LookingJianna is on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/jianna.higgins or visit her website at http://jiannahiggins.com/

    Dear Reader

Just Looking , Alice’s story of moving into a retirement facility, was only meant to be a short story. This is it.

But Alice had other ideas and wanted more. I wrote Just Waiting as a follow-up novella where a new man moves into Sorrento and catches Alice’s eye, however her orange-haired friend sees the tall, silver-haired man first and calls dibs on him.

Even then, Alice insisted on knowing what came next in her life. She wanted adventure. The third story takes Alice from a rescue and a mystery to a momentous occasion in her life.

Just Looking and Just Waiting are boxed up with the third installment to make the novel Just Wondering. Ruby, Melanie, and another character also have their own novels now.

    Thanks for reading my story.

    Love, Jianna
