About this ebook
I have never met anyone who grabs life more than my Grandpa. He is always seeking out someone to talk to, making the most of each day, constantly learning as the wisest man you will ever meet and every moment becoming wiser. He can never pass up a moment to brighten someone's day with honest and thoughtful observations, a gentle smile, and his sincere good wishes.
With these letters my grandpa has created a valuable legacy and so far chronicled over 95 years of memorable encounters, including the struggles of life and of a nation during the Great Depression and through World War II; to the innovation of personal mobile devices, reflections on terrorism and 9/11 and all of his greatest lessons from a lifetime of travel and discourse. From his first radio to his first pc and now his first iPad, Grandpa Gene's letters burst with life and offer ageless wisdom amongst the constant change in the world.
Every letter in this collection on its own can change your life - perhaps reinforcing an old perspective or revealing flaws in human habit with one of a kind observations. Together these letters stand as the wisdom of a century, a great philosophical work arising from a nation's commitment to freedom and liberty; And a passionate love of language and correspondence between a loving grandpa and his grandchildren.
My grandpa began writing regularly to us when I was 10 years old right around the start of the new millennium. When my 8 year old brother and I started reading the letters we had little idea the valuable lessons contained in each one. Over 13 years of receiving letters and reading them over it becomes apparent how carefully crafted each letter is and how my grandpa's experiences and his brilliant way of conveying them through the written word have prepared me for life. Life is full of struggle and hardship, and this is true for every single one of us. It makes conversation our greatest asset; learning from other people because we are all in it the same. My grandpa has taught me to greet each morning with an open mind, to share my ideas and to listen and absorb others', and to always stay active following my heart. The following pages are more than just structured words, they create an accessible foundation for living a happy and successful life.
