This would do well in the book of Revelations,
Dark, ominous and bone cold chilling.
Don.

Woah. What a beautiful vision~! Well, it's
talking about something morbid and
apocalyptic, but the way it's being expressed
is beautiful. The cool thing about this work
seems to be that it's sensually appealing.
Besides that, the language used is also direct
and thoughtful. Excellent work.

Your writing is very dark and sometimes
disturbing. But mostly, it is honest. Not what
we always see today. You have a natural talent
to tell it like it is, no matter what.

Wow, this is haunting. Definitley makes the
reader want to continue reading the others. I
like your writing style.

Dude, killer poem with killer imagery and a
killer ending; that's like a triple homicide
via quill. the whole things full of vivid
description and the internal word play and
rhymes sound awesome when orated. nuclear
scythe rocks. glimpsing a truth you cannot
abide, intense! profound. this poem is awesome.

Phil Gibson

Born and raised in Devon, Phil has been an avid reader from a young age, developing an early taste for the writing of Edgar Alan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, John Wyndham and Tolkien. Began to dream of becoming a writer and first attempted to write a book at the age of 10.After a 'satisfactory' but uneventful school career left him with no clear sense of direction Phil retreated into self-imposed exile at the southern tip of Cornwall where he spent a number of years living in the attic of an isolated bungalow. It was here that he first began to write poetry, inspired by political upheavals and environmental concerns.A few years later Phil attempted to re-enter mainstream society, moving back to the city and starting a family. A decade later, after raising 2 awesome kids as a single father, he returned to education, studying Earth Sciences at Plymouth University.

    Apocalyptic Visions - Phil Gibson

Some people may think it is a little early to be releasing a Revised Edition of my first collection of poetry and normally I would agree. When I started this project I never intended it as a full revision, just a quick spring clean to tidy up the formatting and iron out a few wrinkles in the punctuation. Then I moved house...

While sorting through boxes unopened since the last move I turned up some old notebooks dating back 20 years containing original draft notes for the title poem, Apocalyptic Vision. These notes yielded 2 complete stanzas not previously published in the 1st Edition, allowing me to present this poem in its original form for the first time in years.

Apocalyptic Vision, the poem, has special significance for me as it was the first. It was written during the winter of 1990-91 as the world held its breath awaiting the inevitability of the 1st Gulf War. At the time I was living in the attic of an isolated tumble-down bungalow on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, struggling to survive on little money and less hope for the future as I mourned a love lost. By night I drank and wandered the rugged Lizard Downs, often finding myself at the cliff top above The Point, by day I slept off the night before. I felt my life could get no lower. Then everything changed...

On a crisp winter’s day I aimlessly wandered the streets of Helston during a rare daytime visit to civilization, noticing the shoppers going about their day little more than they noticed me. I was pulled up suddenly by a strange noise that was not so much heard over the bustle that surrounded me as felt under it; a kind of throbbing vibration in my breast and temple that droned on and on, louder and louder. I looked about in confusion to find the source and saw that no-one else was reacting,
