Okay, I know you are thinking that this is going to be another dry note from a publisher. That I’m going to say that the content of this book is very important and will shape your destiny and blah, blah, blah. The truth of the matter is that I have three sons—ages eighteen, nineteen, and twenty-one as I write this. Two of them are in college and one soon will be. I publish a lot of books, but this one hits close to home.
Obviously, I care about my sons’ futures, which works out well because that means I care about your future, too. So it is with you in mind that this book came together. Us parents sometimes hate to admit it, but we know that a variety of people will play a significant role in your life, providing you with additional wisdom and insight you might not hear from us. So we wanted to gather a number of people who care about young people and ask them, What would you want to communicate to someone starting out in life?
That’s what this book is all about.
And check out the letter from Barry Landis on page 6 that explains how this book will help students who are interested in being Christians in secular environments—like a keygrip on a Hollywood set, a sound engineer in a New York studio, a backup singer in Las Vegas, or a road manager for a touring group.
We hope that what you find inside these pages will assist you. And maybe make you ask some questions. Maybe have you ponder God’s role in your life. And maybe you will even laugh a time or two.
Oh, and thanks for reading this.

FOREWORD
Thank you for picking up this copy of What We Want to Say to Grads. Many people have contributed to this work, and they are all dedicated to the idea that Christians need to influence our media and culture as positive role models. This notion is not new and was inspired in many of us by the late Bob Briner, who wrote the book Roaring Lambs. In his memory we established a not-for-profit organization called The Briner Institute, which seeks to achieve its primary mission of cultural engagement and influence through educational activities.
The Briner Institute and its members seek to educate interested persons in how to …
Advocate for the proliferation of successful, quality faith- and family-based content movements in movies, music, games, and media.
Mentor developing promising artists, writers, and musicians to provide a tax benefit to the inventor and artist community—whereby equity in small amounts is contributed up front to the institute, so that the future success of these
