lntroduction

If you ever study music, chances are that you will end up hearing the name Bach somewhere along the line. The German composer is one of the most famous musicians of all time, and throughout his life he penned absolutely beautiful music that is still popular today. Johann Sebastian Bach, sometimes only referred to as J.S. Bach, or Sebastian Bach, wrote music that today is considered part of the classical genre.

Much of his music is still played and recognizable today. He was born at a time of musical fervor, when there were new advances being made in the world of music. Bach himself helped facilitate these changes; he was a musical extraordinaire, and his art has inspired people around the world. As the saying goes, music is a language that everyone speaks. In Germany, during the later 1600s, there was a man named Johann Ambrosius Bach who fell in love with a beautiful woman named Maria Elisabeth Lämmerhirt. Johann Ambrosius was the esteemed town piper, which meant that he organized all of the music in town. He worked heavily with the church, coordinating what music was played during church sessions. Johann Ambrosius married Maria in 1668, on a lovely April day. Over the course of their marriage, the two of them had eight children. Unfortunately, only five of them survived, which absolutely devastated the two parents. On March 21st of 1685, the Bachs’ youngest child was born, and Johann named the child after himself.

The child’s full name was Johann Sebastian Bach, and little did his family know that he would go on to become one of the world’s most famous and revered composers. From the time he was born, it seemed as if Johann was destined to become famous; after all, his entire family was skilled in music. His father himself played the violin, the trumpet, and the organ, along with many other instruments. Johann Sebastian would go on
