    Cook County Corrections Officer, Jose Ortega’s career and freedom are at stake in a precarious battle of legal wits. Jose finds himself at the mercy of the court after a night of bar hopping with several friends and coworkers. Jose finds it very difficult to remember what actually transpired that evening at the Katana Club, one of down town Chicago’s trendiest night clubs and even more difficult to believe the accusations brought against him. Jose’s union representative offers him little hope after Internal Affairs Investigator Madison interviews him. Jose asks for a bench trial and entrusts his defense to attorney Paul Richmond who has only recently begun his practice, but came highly recommended by his Sergeant. To Jose’s dismay he soon learns Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Dorsey and the Honorable Judge E. Lincoln Rhodes show very little tolerance for a lawman that breaks the law.

He is also an Air Force, Gulf War and Operation Restore Hope veteran, a former Cook County Sheriff Deputy, a Chicago firefighter/EMT, an O’Hare airport K9 Security officer turned inventor, and an author. He took formal writing courses at Malcolm X College Chicago, IL, night classes, and even some correspondence courses. Here in Rockford, IL. I have participated in 3 book signing events for other works I have done. Two were hosted by Barnes & Noble, who assured me they will have me back. A website is in my foreseeable future.
