    The History Of The Oats

    Oats (Avena sativa l.) has been used as an ingredient since the times of ancient Greece. This species of plants includes grains (Graminaceae) or cereal. Close relatives include rice (Oriza Sativa), wheat (Triticum spp), rye (Secale cereale), barley (Hordeum vulgare), and sorghum (Sorghum biolor).

    This plant is said to have come from the Asian mainland, but today, it is ironically cultivated and used more by the Europeans as an everyday staple food.

    Traced from its structure, each grain of oats is made up of 4 components:

    Husk is the outermost layer which cannot be eaten.

    Outer skin is the layer that contains vitamin and mineral fibers.

    The inner layer is a source of carbohydrate, protein, and soluble fiber

    The core or chip institutions (germ) are the heart of oats, and this is a source of healthy protein and
