About this ebook

Finding each other was only the beginning . . .

When Kate Darby swerves off a mountain road to avoid hitting a California condor, she ends up trapped in her car, teetering on the edge of a cliff. Terrified, she breathes a prayer that changes her life.

It's Nick Sheridan who comes to Kate's rescue. Nick is handsome and confident, and he seems to develop a habit of rescuing her, but Kate is in town only until her grandmother recuperates from a stroke. She's not planning to get involved with one of the locals.

Nick is a reformed veteran of life in the fast lane, a new Christian, and a travel writer. When he sees a car dangling on the edge of a cliff, the daredevil in him jumps into action. He doesn't expect to be swept off his feet by the car's occupant. He's made a vow--no dating for a year--but keeping that vow is going to be a lot more difficult now that he's met Kate Darby. . . .

Love Casts Out FearThis is the first time I have read a book by Victoria Bylin. She is a talented writer who delivers a very meaningful message in the pages of her novel. The main character in Until I Found You is Kate Darby, a woman who has many fears to overcome, and a need to find God's hand in her life. She meets Nick Sheridan while on her way to her grandmother, Leona, who has suffered a stroke and needs Kate's care. Nick comes to Kate's rescue when her car slides off a mountain road. Nick has lived a fast life, made many mistakes, and has many regrets. He has found faith and is a new Christian. He has also vowed to avoid relationships for one year. The appearance of Kate in Nick's life poses a major threat to his vow. He finds himself attracted to her. She is attracted to him. They begin a journey in faith, share a common interest in Condors, and they both have deep affection for Leona. Nick has been helping Leona with her small newspaper in the town of Meadows, California. While she recovers from her stroke, Nick and Kate work together to keep the paper going. Kate has put her career on hold, but she wants to return to her job in Los Angeles. She wants control of her life and can't seem to place herself in God's hands. This comes between Kate and Nick, yet as they work together, their lives become deeply intertwined. When Kate is asked to return to Los Angeles, Nick supports her choice to leave Meadows, but many difficulties are ahead of them. Will they find love? Will that love be enough to cast out Kate's many fears, or will her fears put an end to her relationship with Nick? This book is a sweet romance with a deep message of faith overcoming fear. I enjoyed it so much that I finished it in less than one day. I highly recommend this novel!I received a copy of this book from the publisher, through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

While headed up a mountain road on the way to care for her grandmother, Kate suddenly swerves to miss a condor and feels the road give way beneath her BMW. Calling out for help to a God she does not believe in, she is rescued by Nick moments before her car rolls down the mountainside. Nick feels an immediate attraction (as does Kate) but he has made a vow now to date or make any major decisions for a year and still has about six more months to complete that vow. He wants to be Kate's knight in shining armor, but Kate is torn between her job in LA, her grandmother's care, and the need to keep the family's small town newspaper going. Nate must face his past while Kate struggles with her fears and self-reliance.The characters are well drawn, likeable, and deal with real issues. This book will be most enjoyed by those who share the characters' struggles or Christian faith.

"Until I Found You" is a christian based romance. Kate's grandmother has a stroke and on her way to help out Kate swerves to miss a condor and the road gives way sending her and her car off the cliff. Enter Nick the reformed playboy who rescues her in the "Nick" of time. They "fall" for each other of course, but Nick is sworn off of dating for another six months so things get a little complicated. Also is the fact that Kate is not a christian and so doesn't share his convictions. All in all this had the makings of a good tale. However, I only gave it two stars- and this is why . . .First of all, though I have no problem with religious romance, I found this one to be preachy and too in my face. As the intended audience is women of faith, I see no reason why Nick's brother the pastor would unload a full blown sermon over the phone when all Nick wanted was some moral support, after all, he is already converted. That is just one example of why I found this book overly preachy.Secondly, Kate's character really annoyed me. She came across to me as wishy washy, clingy and scared of her own shadow, which didn't fit in with the idea that she is a savvy advertising agent with great business sense. I didn't like the way she completely hung at Nicks feet like she couldn't do anything without him. Even when she supposedly found her way with God, I felt like she did it more so that she could have Nick than because she wanted God.Third, I found too many inconsistencies that took me out of the story. For example, Nick takes her to the city to meet with her boss and they risk life and limb to get back to Meadows before the road closes so that grandma won't be alone, and yet once they get there they can't risk going up the drive to her house because they might slide? She spends the night at Nick's, which is not a smart idea for a guy who is turning over a new leaf, but beyond that, what about grandma? We risk everything to get there, and yet we're afraid of a little icy road? Maybe it's a California thing. Also, the Condor theme was a nice idea but it didn't really tie in all that well, and frankly I know more about the rescue of Condors now than I ever cared to know. Yawn.I really hate writing less than favorable reviews, and I do have to say that the book was clean, and entertaining enough in it's way. I usually love books from Bethany house because I can trust that they have good values. The values in this book are there, but I found them a little forced and unnatural for my taste. I also found it all just a little too predictable. Two out of five stars on this one.

Until I Found You is the first book I have read by Victoria Bylin. It was an easy book to read and I enjoyed it very much. The characters were easy to believe. I especially enjoyed the story of the condors and the parallels made between them and the characters in the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance and Christian fiction.

Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin is contemporary romance based on realistic life experiences.Kate Darby is on the way to help her grandmother recuperate from a stroke when her life changes dramatically. While Kate is on the treacherous winding mountainous road leading to her grandmother's house, she swerves to avoid a condor in the road. As a result, her car slips off the edge and teeters there until Nick Sheridan, local author, answers her desperate cries and prayer.Nick, unhappy with his book now that he is a new Christian, had also sworn off dating for a year. And Kate, just out of a relationship, did not want to date anyone, especially not a local. One disconcerting portion of the novel dealt with rare Condors. The inclusion added to the overall story, but the author seemed to be giving lessons in conservation and ecology. The story, however, like the road Kate was on, twists and turns through personalities, jobs and real life scenarios. This is the first time I have read a book by Victoria Bylin. The cover and story synopsis intrigued me, and I was not disappointed. I look forward to reading more of her novels.I received this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.

5 stars out of 5 given to Until I Found You. I do not think I have read a book by Victoria Bylin before, but I know I will be looking for more of her novels. This one is a contemporary novel and I loved how she wove in the stories of the almost extinct birds, the condors. They actually play an integral part in the lives of both Nick and Kate. Victoria writes a page turning novel of Kate and the issues and life styles that threaten to suck her under. We do not all have the same choices facing us today, but we do all make millions of choices each day -what to wear, what we will eat or drink, what we will do, but none are so important as the ones involving trust and love, selfishness or being unselfish. I cheered with Kate as she learned about the birds, I cried as she faced another setback with Leona's health, but each page I read was delightful and the truths given will stick with me. Definitely I would urge you to read this one this summer. I recived this book free from Fred at The Book Club Network and Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions stated are my own.

Expecting a routine romance story, I was so pleasantly surprised. What I read was a Christian romance. The author wrote a story of how one finds faith. Being a Christian myself, I found a deep connection with Kate's journey. Beginning the story, you think you know exactly how it will end. But it is a story, not just of Kate's journey, but Leona's and Nick's..I was privileged to win this book in the May Early Review Contest on LibraryThing. Thank you, and, Victoria Bylin, I think you are a wonderful author and I look forward to reading more of your books.

Until I Found You by Victoria BylinThis book sounded interesting and am glad I was able to obtain a copy for review. It's about how a woman comes back to home to care for an aging adult parent and help run the newspaper that is published once a week. The story also follows Nick Sheridan who is helping out at the newspaper and is also an author and photographer for a man's outdoor adventure magazine. There are many secrets along the way that come to light. We learn the grandmother's story about her love life. Throughout the book there are parts talking of God and how he's played a part in their lifes.Loved learning about the nature and the terrain and how the town helps one another in times of a crises. There are others that the book also follows and like how they are all intertwined.Bit typical and you know what the outcome will be when you first start reading the book but the journey is interesting and so much happens to them all. I received this book from BooksClub Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

A pretty good story of two people coming together and finding out more about themselves and what they really believe. I enjoyed the chance to read this book and find out how they got together and the trials they faced.

In a nutshell... girl in car dangling off a cliff, handsome guy comes to her rescue and they fall in love. Sounds like a typical romance novel? Not on your life! I love the way the author makes this such an exciting and beautifully different story. Love, hope, forgiveness, the start of a christian life and possibly the end of another but not until the story of the condors is told. "Until I Found You" is fiction at its finest.

Until I found you is the story of Kate and Nick. Two people who are on different journeys when they meet. Kate is driving when she veers off the street and almost crashes her car. Nick rescues her just before her car falls over a cliff and explodes. Kate doesn't know if she believes in God and Nick has just discovered God. I found the plot okay. I was annoyed with Kate being such a baby. She is so afraid of being hurt and losing those she loves. She feels that God has taken everyone that she loves and she doesn't understand how a God can do this. I understand going through the fear of losing people and feeling that God has done you wrong. I don't think of myself as a huge practicing Christian but I live by the motto of things happen for a reason and instead of trying to figure out why, just learn from it and move on. This was a good story and I did enjoy most of the characters. Kate's mother was very charming. Even the descriptions of the scenery was one that you could visualize as you read. I loved the part when it was snowing and Kate decides to make a snow angel. It brought a smile to my face.

I enjoyed this story of family, life changes, new love and faith. Nick and Kate were both likeable characters and their instant attraction and developing relationship was well detailed and very natural. Kate's turmoil over juggling responsibilities and making major changes was believable. My only negative was what I perceived to be the condition for Kate to fully accept/turn to God just as Nick had - seemed like a condition for a relationship with Nick. Faith/religion is very important to me, but I wouldn't expect my partner had the same beliefs - as long as mine were respected.

*** I received this book through a LibraryThing Giveaway ***Until I Found You was what I expected and more. Kate, Nick, and Leona's story is one that is sweet, heartwarming, and touching. There are a few bittersweet moments that threaten tears, but the story threatens tender smiles more than tears. I struggled with the emphasis on God, but that has more to do with my personal beliefs than taking away from the story itself. I love the characters. They all felt real, different, and unique. Each had their own personality that was well distinguished and interesting getting to know. I also love the story about the Condors and how nicely they contributed to the story and the lives that were being told. Overall, I really enjoyed this novel and appreciate the chance of winning it in the LibraryThing Giveaway. Victoria Bylin has created a story that is real and charming, a story that is worth reading. This book has definitely made me consider reading other novels by Bylin. 4/5

If you want to read a novel about a knight in shining armor and a damsel in distress this book is for you. For me this book was not too enjoyable. He was always rescuing her and she was always needy. He was a born again Christian and after his conversion made a vow not to date for a year. He told her about this vow yet she did not respect his decision like asking to cuddle and all. About midway through the book she decides to become a Christian but it is only a half-hearted decision to follow Christ. She does not really trust God all that much throughout the book until literally the last ten pages of the book. With her it was all about her career. I like the man well enough but he seemed a little too intoxicated by her. I don't think it is very likely that I will read any more works by this author. Thanks to Librarything and Bethany House for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin I really enjoyed this book. Victoria Bylin is a new author to me, but I plan to find more of her books. I found her style of writing to be fun, full of faith and realistic. You are sure to fall in love with the storyline and characters. Nick Sheridan comes to the rescue of Kate Darby more than once. He is not proud of his past as a bestselling author, but as a new Christian has the chance to save Kate’s grandmothers newspaper and write about the important things. Kate puts her career on hold to help her grandmother Leona when she has a stroke. Nick may be her hero but wants so much more. I was intrigued by all the information on Leona’s beloved condor’s. I give Until I Found You 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys Christian, contemporary and romance fiction I want to thank the author Victoria Bylin and publisher Bethany House for bringing good clean Christian books like this one to readers like me. I would also like to thank The Book Club Network Inc. for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

Kate’s grandma, Leona, had a stroke and Kate, as her only relative, was going to take care of her and also the town newspaper that Leona owned. Taking a leave of absence from her own job as a high powered advertising agent in Los Angeles, she planned to stay with Leona in the California mountain town up San Miguel Highway. A road she didn’t like to drive. On her way there, she loses control of her car, as she tries to avoid hitting a huge Condor in the middle of the road. With nothing but a steep cliff and pine trees below, her car dangles dangerously off the side of the mountain—praying to God, who she no longer believes in, she cries out for help. Unknown to her, on the road behind her, Nick Sheridan is riding his Harley home. Nick is a friend of Leona’s, and a travel writer who is there to help with the newspaper. He is also a former bad boy, who recently became a Christian. Saving Kate from a crumbling cliff face is only the beginning of the challenges God has in store for Nick.Until I Found You is a down to earth example of good Christian Fiction. I especially liked the reminder of what it was like to be a new Christian: all the questions, all the doubts, and the times of silence when you want answers; are brought to life inside the pages of this book. The other part of the story I enjoyed is about the Condors, who are being brought back from near extinction. I see them flying free where I live, and I remember going to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego, where they started the breeding program years ago. Easy read for your next vacation. 5 stars.

When I first started reading Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin, I groaned as I thought I was starting a typical “gorgeous girl meets handsome guy and are strongly attracted to each other and get married in the end” story. And it was -- but the story taking me from the “meeting” to the “married” part kept me hooked. I couldn’t put the book down. I love that neither of the main characters had perfect pasts. I loved Aunt Leona as she wrote her story for Kate while dealing with getting older and dealing with illness. The story of the condors wove in and out, adding another layer to everyone’s stories.I could relate to the decision Kate had to make: how do you choose between two jobs you are good at and that you love doing – one in the city and one in the country? And where does Nick fit in with all this?I loved watching them work through their faith – it felt real to me. Nick, as a fairly new Christian, is still learning to listen to and trust God. And Kate, as a non-believer, is trying to figure out how this God-thing all works.Until I Found You is a great read. I look forward to reading more books of this kind from Victoria Bylin. (This review is based upon a copy of this book which was provided free of charge from Bethany House Publishers. These opinions are my own; I was not required to write a positive review, nor was I compensated for this review.)
