    Chapter I

    DON'T WORRY, FIND A HAPPY MEDIUM

    It's easier to say don't worry, but it's very hard to do, but if you have to worry, worry well. The goal is to face your fears and your anxieties head on. In trying to find the reasons why you'll fall into misfortune, you will hit a dead end that will lead you to no where. Your worrying and the associated anger and anxiety become an unnecessary load. The problems begin to magnify and compound. You could be turned into a bag of salt. Worry, like fear, affects your endocrine system, your body's ability to process and solve these problems. Your endocrine fight-or-flight responses block your ability to think clearly and creatively to find real solutions at that moment. Worrying and especially fear remind me of a story I was told many years ago by a village wise man. It was about a young shepherd who was afraid of bees, of hornets, and of wasps because he had watched his cousin die after being stung. He had three encounters of his own. The first was while playing hide and seek with his friends. He accidentally kicked a bee hive and he couldn't run fast enough and was stung very severely. The second was when he was helping his dog pull out a rabbit he chased into a hole. He accidentally kicked a yellow jacket nest and was again stung severely. He recovered from these stings each time. A third was when one of his sheep had run away into a neighboring farm. To find and recover his animal, he decided to take a short cut and go through an apple orchard. When he reached the middle of the field, he realized that he was in the middle of a school of bees. He froze, realizing he has come half way through and in the middle of a field filled with bees.
