Our culture is built upon love and affection. Yet after independence there is definite change in our attitude and style of living. In the last few years particularly in this decade we have shifted from the joint family system to that of a nucleus individual family system due to various reasons. This dramatic change brought in innumerable problems often shaking the very foundation of the family culture. The youngsters have lot of expectations from the wed lock when the initial glamour fades and when the reality strikes they find the pressure too much to handle. In particular when both the boy and girl are employed, there is tremendous pressure everyday. Everyone is under stress and tension and unfortunately we have no one to share our thoughts. Both in the office and house we face lot of problems and we face pressure cooker situations everyday without any actual outlet. Live in relationship, no child policy, gay relationship We care more for the face book friends than spending some time with the family members But the common fact is that in all kinds of relationship there is some kind of pressure and tension and there no one seems to be happy. Every one seems to live in an illusionary world.

So this series is a small attempt to study what contributes to our stress and tension and how to manage the same. During the last decade I have given more than 500 lectures on Stress Management and every time after the lecture I find few people come and share their problems with me. Many times even when ‘Stress Management’ session is not included in the training program people request me to handle the session during evening hours and they later thanked me profusely for the insights. So I thought why not bring it as a series so that I can reach the silent chambers of many tiny hearts where a war is going on every day between negative and positive forces. Please read this series every time you are disturbed mentally but always remember If there is a purpose in creating this universe, there is also a purpose in creating us as human being. Let us help each other to see happiness in lie

    Chapter: 1

    Stress the Controller of Life

People were just about as happy as they made up their minds to be – Abraham Lincoln

Stress is like a friction. Without friction the movement of the vehicle cannot be controlled. Without stress the direction of our life cannot be controlled. We cannot avoid stress and problems as long as we are alive. We should be aware of the fact that there is an inherent strength in every one of us to cope up with any adverse situations in life. But in normal conditions we are not aware of these special qualities but we often feel convenient to carry on with our routine. These special characters in us are brought out only when we are challenged with extreme stress and tension. The other day a friend of mine said in a casual manner that the only place where there is no stress and tension between the inmates is in cemetery. But one cannot be sure these days that there is no stress and tensions in cemetery because of acute space shortage even relocation, double-decker and multi layer burial and other modes are being constantly discussed. So as long as we live problems, stress and tension are going to be there. In fact certain amount of stress and tension is required like Masala’s (Powder of spices and condiments) in Indian Curry preparations. It adds flavor and meaning to our every day life

    WHAT WOULD HAVE YOU DONE

    UNDER STRESS AND TENSION

This question looked very simple. But, then, when I read this story, it haunted me for a long time. This happened in a small village located in mountain terrain occupied by nearby country
