    Mahatma Gandhi is today remembered particularly for his adherence to the principle of using non-violence to secure his ends and for his ascetic, simple lifestyle that placed him among his people rather than above them. His influence, like that of all great teachers down the centuries, has spread far beyond the borders of his nation and his words still have much to teach us.
