I am southern writer who enjoys writing about the southern living I grew up in. I am divorced and work at a nearby college. I live about fifty miles north of Nashville, Tennessee in the town of Gallatin. I enjoy sharing my stories with the readers, which I hope find the stories appealing. I write mysteries, crime thrillers, and suspense. My books touch on various subjects dealing with today’s society of the yester years. I write short story collections with the hope of sharing a variety of my stories for the reader’s enjoyment. I want to be an effective writer with positive stories that bring the reader down to a good old country story with a lot to say.

    In Times of Trouble

In the Shadows of the Cross

    Thought to keep in mind:

    Matthew 4:17

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Matthew 4:18

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

    Matthew 4:19

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

    Matthew 4:20

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

    Matthew 4:21

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

    Matthew 4:22

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

And from that time Jesus began to preach, he said Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And when he came upon some fishermen, Peter, Andrew, James and John, he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

    John 1:43

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

    John 1:44

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

    John 1:45

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

    John 1:46

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

From the very beginning, before the world and the Garden of Eden was, God ordained a plan. It was the perfect plan of salvation for mankind and the sins of the world. The plan was the coming of his Son, Jesus Christ, who would be born of the virgin birth without sin, spot or blemish. Jesus Christ, the one and only perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. By and through his cruel and brutal death and the shedding of his blood, we receive the forgiveness of our sins, by the grace and mercy of God, through repentance, through faith in believing and accepting what Jesus has done for us in our heart, mind, soul and our strength. By the power of his resurrection, upon the third day of his cruel death, Jesus Christ rose from the dead and overcame Satan, sin, hell and death unto eternal life by and through the power of the Holy Ghost of God. No other way will a man be saved; no other way will a man live eternally. From the beginning, God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son and the Holy Ghost of God ordained the perfect and only full-proof plan of salvation for mankind. Mohammed, Buddha and all these other so-called gods of this world who died are still in their graves. However, Jesus’ tomb is empty even today. All of the so-called gods and everyone born in this world will have to stand before the judgment of the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the God of Israel. Jesus told the fishermen to follow him and he would make them fishers of men. When we get saved, pick up our cross daily and began our walk with God, through his Son Jesus and the power of the Holy Ghost of God, it’s not going to be a bed of roses. It wasn’t for Jesus and it won’t be for us.

Scripture Reading – John Chapter 19 (Read Scripture First)

    John 19:1

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

    John 19:2

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe.

    John 19:3

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

    John 19:4

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

They took Jesus and scourged him. They put a crown of platted thorns on his head and put on him a purple robe. Christians, today, are we standing as a light in this dark and dying sin-sick world? We are going to be persecuted, tried, mocked, scourged by the tongue of man, beaten and banged around because of our testimony of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We, as Christians today, need to be steadfast and unmovable. We have to stand our ground upon the blood shed cross of our Savior Jesus Christ to be witnesses of his light in this dark world. Those who have come and accepted his way, the way of the cross, the cross of Calvary’s Hill, the way of Jesus Christ, the way of a holy, clean, and righteous way and the way of eternal life, should stand bold and not be shaken but yet solid as a rock on the Rock of Ages. They put a crown of thorns upon his head. We, as Christians today, will suffer in the shadow of the cross. We need to stand boldly, today, with our loins girded with the truth and our minds made up that we are going to stand for our King. The crown of thorns, the trying times and the mental warfare that goes on in our mind will cease the day we stand before a holy and righteous God and receive our crown of righteousness and our just reward. In the shadow of the cross, Andrew, one of his disciples accounts, reports of his death by crucifixion in Greece on a cross in the shape of the letter X where he hung alive for two days exhorting the people. They whipped Jesus, smote him and put on him a purple robe. Are you, today, Christians, looking for that second coming of Christ? Are our robes white as snow without spot or blemish? Are you prepared to stand before the judgment? Today you are in the shadow of the cross but tomorrow may be the judgment? How do you stand, today, before God? They smote Jesus, whipped him, beat him, mutilated his body with stripes, spit on him and ripped his flesh with whips.

    John 19:4

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

The devil and all the demons of Hell were probably laughing at Jesus and saying we got him now. Because of you and me, our sins and the sins of the world, Jesus stood upon God’s love.
