More often than not, we simply make it up as we go along. The next question is; what can be done to change this? Many of us are guilty of saying that we ran out of time or we simply didn’t get to it. The real reason is we weren’t organised enough and that’s why we failed at that task.

I was reading an article recently and it got me thinking: Why do we so often fail at things? A lack of planning, going off half charged, losing interesting part the way through or simply not knowing what to do. More often than not, we simply make it up as we go along. The next question is; what can be done to change this?
Many of us are guilty of saying that we ran out of time or we simply didn’t get to it. The real reason is we weren’t organised enough and that’s why we failed at that task. When I say task I don’t simply mean work related. It might be something as simple as reading a few pages of your favourite book; going to visit an old friend; taking the dog for a walk. But what was it that we were so engrossed in that we couldn’t find the time to say hello to nanna.
There are a multitude of distractions in our everyday lives. Between free-to-air and pay-to-view television we have potentially hundreds of channels to watch. Facebook, linkedIn, Twitter and Instagram form the core of our social networks and we absolutely must check our updates one more time before we go to dinner, the movies, work, bed, any or all of the above! Then there is that really interesting website with the fancy dancing fish which is way better than anything on YouTube. Before you know it, it’s one in the morning and you have to get up at six to catch the train to work.
Once we get to work, there are still distractions to be dealt with. The company network may not let us check Facebook or Instagram but our phones certainly will. After all, isn’t that the whole reason for having a smart phone in the first place? Then there are the
