When Love is Not Love

About this ebook
A short journey and study into the realm of love and relationships with a strong spiritual thread woven in.
Why are relationships in troubled waters so often? What is required to steer the ship toward calmer waters? Why is it that many of us struggle so much with relating, and miss the bliss of perceived love?
Jean-Jacques has failed unmistakably and many times on this front. Then he started to ask questions.
The book is the result of soul searching with a sincere, vulnerable heart only looking for truth and redemption. Not comprehensive, but a powerful start button for who dares.

When Love is Not Love - Jean-Jacques de Chazal
INTRODUCTION
Even dictionaries do not give a comprehensive definition of love. I suppose it simply is because this very short word has many facets; the definitions reflects man’s very limited understanding of what the word speaks of. Yet there is a common thread to all aspects of love and being loving.; that is; it is always motivates good. Human beings often claim love but seldom honor it. The particular aspect of love which I will look at and reason about in this little book, is the one which should be at work in intimate and supposedly committed relationships.
I do know for myself that I have failed many times to love and therefore cannot and will not prescribe anything. However I wish to reason and journey closer to understanding where we go wrong in our most intimate relationship, with our ‘lifetime companion’ and with others daily. Some people go on an endless romantic trips, hopping from one relationship to another, others managed to stick it out and remain together, but the relationship often does lose its original joy and become flat and stuck in habitual monotony. Within my deepest heart, I ask myself why do these things and countless other unsavory events occur between two people who once were ‘in love’? My own mistakes are many, but I am willing to learn.
I am quite sure that volumes have been and will probably still be written on the subject. However my aim is to stimulate us to use our very existence as our research laboratory … let’s see what we find out.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN, LOVE?
Love is interpreted and understood by men and women in many ways which almost always is biased toward self. Dictionaries reflect very limited understanding of that little word. For example one of the definitions I saw in the Cambridge dictionary (i.e.. to love someone) goes like this:
‘To have strong feelings of affection for another adult and be romantically and sexually attracted to them or, to feel
