- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I completely ravished this book and couldn't get enough! It was a quick read, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. The passion between Derek and Melissa knew no bounds and it was HOT! But behind all of that was a lot of hurt and heart. The passion fueled my flames, but the angst kept me coming back for more. I cannot wait for the next one!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This story certainly gets going right away. Melissa is trying to mentally escape from a troubling past that is really quite heartbreaking. While she is at this resort to relax and, in a way, re-find herself, she winds up meeting a guy. They only plan on hooking up while they are there, but feelings start to form and by the end it gets hard to say goodbye. The story only becomes even more interesting from there. Like literally once she steps off the plane...but I'm not one for spoilers so we will stop there. The epilogue is precious. It wraps up the whole book wonderfully. Sometimes you are just looking for a feel good book that just makes you want to smile for other people's happiness, and this book does just that. And this book is not super long, so you should definitely give it a go.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book open with a bang, quite literally, and gets better from there! The first chapter grabbed my attention and kept it throughout the novel. I couldn't put it down and read it all in one setting. I haven't had a book grab me like that in a long, long, long time! Pretty awesome!
I will say, the plot is pretty straight ahead with just a couple small plot twists, but the well written story line and the incredibly hot characters (I want to steal Derek Alexander!!!) more than makes up for that.
A wonderful debut novel!!! Well worth the time and money!! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good storyline, despite the sex scenes.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/54 stars! I really liked this story and the hotness was definitely there. I totally believed the connection between Melissa and Derek. There were times I didn't understand some of the things that Melissa did but that's okay, the story as a whole was very entertaining. I thought the ending was a bit rushed and I was please to see there is another book for the couple. Yay!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm not quite sure where the amazing little gem named Tia Louise has been hiding but, I could not be happier to welcome her to the world of Romance. Her debut novel is quite fantastic! Need a for instance? *Tiny spoiler ahead* During the first interaction between the main characters they end up having hot, and I meant hot, up against the wall sex in a public place. I mean really? This book started off with a bang, pun intended, and it just got better from there. From beginning to end your heart strings will be tugged and you will probably be in need of a fan. One To Hold was a magnificent introduction to Tia Louise, and I hope that she develops this into a series! "Derek might've shown me I wasn't to blame, that I could fall in love, that my life could get better. Buy before any of it could be realized, I had to finish here. I had to get back on my own two feet."~MelissaWe start off with Melissa. She and her friend Elaine are at a spa retreat in Scottsdale, when Melissa runs into Derek. Before Melissa knows what hits her, what was supposed to be a one night stand, turns into a sinful, steamy week long affair. Derek and Melissa cannot get enough of one another. And while their best friends, and travel companions, Elaine and Patrick are occupying one another, Derek and Melissa fall down a rabbit hole of satisfaction and lust, and perhaps more? Before they can explore their feelings further it is time to depart back to their regularly programmed lives. This is the point where everything went to hell. There were hints dropped that Melissa was dealing with a deeper situation than just needing a girls week, but we don't get a full explanation until about half through the book. Oh boy, does shit hit the fan. Melissa has a massive amount of unresolved baggage waiting for her back home, and before she can put her final plan into motion she gets the shock of a lifetime. Her one week affair has come back to bite her in the ass, figuratively you pervs, and destroys her heart in one fell swoop. I have to applaud Melissa's character, she is an enormously well grounded and strong heroine. She makes it through, relatively unscathed, except her heart. Can she ever forget Derek and what he was beginning to mean to her? Well she's going to have to, because she can't get past his betrayal. Things start to calm down and then Ms. Louise hits you win another semi. I won't spoil everything, just know that when you think all if safe and sound, its probably not :) All in all the ending is perfect but, getting there was an overload of emotions with twists and turns every which way. "I know right then she's saying she'll do whatever I want, and that's the funny thing with power. When the one you love gives it to you, you start looking for every opportunity either to give it back or to give her happiness with it."~DerekMelissa and Derek are a new favorite couple of mine. Derek in all his hot, ex-military glory, and Melissa is one kickass woman. These two compliment each other, and were clearly made for one another. Through the upsets in this book neither one waivers from their undeniable attraction/passion for the other one. It was always a matter of true character and unearthing it. The funny thing is Melissa states that she has been left very cynical, but when you look back none of that cynicism is shown when she is with Derek. Derek can complete Melissa, she just had to learn to trust him. One To Hold is the perfect mix of passion, drama and heart skipping a beat moments. Tia added the perfect amount of humanity in her characters. There were times where each character was on my shit list, but most of them redeemed themselves :) I truly hope Tia Louise continues with Elaine and Patrick's story, I have a feeling it will be sublime! One To Hold is a book you do not want to miss! And you will definitely want to keep an eye on future books/news form Tia Louise!Happy Reading!*I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5One to Hold by Tia Louise is a steamy, wild ride. Melissa's and Derek's need for each other is insatiable and they take every opportunity to get more. When they meet, they can't resist each other despite the fact that they both should. The result is explosive. Melissa clearly has issues from the get-go and though they are not fully revealed until almost the end, it can easily be guessed. Her best friend Elaine (whose own book comes next) features prominently in the story since they are together for a spa vacation. Derek and his partner Patrick are there for a convention and conveniently end up meeting the ladies. Derek is a retired Marine and current private investigator who lost his wife six years before. The sexy times between Melissa and Derek are frequent, as in they cannot keep their hands off each other. What happens in between the sexy times is just waiting to be together again in some cases. In others, it provides some extra time to see what is happening between Elaine and Melissa and Derek and Patrick. This doesn't lead to a strong character arc. Sometimes there seems to be a lack of emotion in the writing, especially when dealing with the traumatic issue in Melissa's past. A little more emotion there would have been better.Overall, this was an enjoyable book. It is the first in a series and lots more sexy times are promised.RATING: 3Heat Rating: Fiery, HotREVIEWED BY: Monique NeavesCourtesy of My Book Addiction and More
