    Who Goes There; is the sequel to Nick's hugely popular Doctor Who memoir, Dalek I Loved You (Gollancz, 2007 & 2008). It's a travel book with Doctor Who at its core. Nick travels England and Wales, seeking locations used in the show, both Classic (pre-relaunch) and New. Being an odd kind of show, its locations too are odd. This is no glamorous trip. Dungeness Nuclear Power Station, anyone? A flooded china clay pit in Cornwall? As he travels, so Nick discovers another side to our well-trodden country, which is no less evocative. Then he goes to the pub. As in Dalek I Loved You, the travel writing is backed up by Nick's childhood reminiscences and contemporary musings. A companion website offers photographs from the trip, a Google map of the locations and details of the nearest pub. In this innovative way, readers are invited to follow in his footsteps. Scariest of all, given two other books in the pipeline (both humour books, for Arcturus Publishing), Nick has just 21 days in which to write it. Who Goes There isn't just for Who fans - it's for anyone who fancies a trip off the beaten path. And a very funny book.

    Nick Griffiths is an author and journalist because NASA wouldn't let him be an astronaut. He has written Dalek I Loved You: A Memoir and Who Goes There, both based around Doctor Who, and the comic novel In the Footsteps of Harrison Dextrose, while writing largely for the Radio Times. He owns a cat named Columbo, who has failed to solve any murder cases, and would love to own a dog but can't get past the idea of picking up its poo in a small plastic bag.

      I have an epub edition purchased from Kobo.I have been a Doctor Who fan for about 50 years, so when I saw this book and its promise of being able to visit vicariously Doctor Who locations, or more precisely filming locations, I jumped at it, especially as the blurb promised a link to a website where all the author's photos and other special features could be viewed.Alas, while the author's style is refreshingly self-depreciating and humorous, the supplied link does not work so the reader has to go solely on his narrative descriptions of each location.The choice of locations tallies pretty closely with my own - or any fan's I would suspect - top "wanna sees", but without the photos/images I can only give a rating of three out of five to the book. With images, I suspect it would be five out of five.
