Isn’t it funny how things you liked as a kid actually turn you on when you get older? Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a unicorn when I grew up. Then I wanted to be Sailor Venus. Now I wanna be in a three-way with both of them! I used to do fanfics, but now I want to make my own stories. Sexy stories about whatever pops in my head. Tales with lots of alien tentacles, monster tongues, and huge metal robot dicks that won’t stop. So, join me for an adventure in one of my books! It’ll be fun!

Friendly Sparkle Horses isn’t just a cartoon. It’s an escape. That’s why SparkleCon isn’t just a convention. It’s a chance to get away. I haven’t gone to SparkleCon in five years. But now I need that chance more than ever.

On any ordinary day, I am Melissa Desmond, a civil defense attorney from Oregon. Ever since I was a little girl, I thought being a lawyer was my dream job. I wanted to help people. But it sure hasn’t turned out that way. It’s bad enough that I have to pay back my student loans for the next fifteen years. Because of that, I can’t afford to start my own plaintiff’s practice. Instead, I have to work for this awful firm in Portland.

The firm I work for screws people over. Good people. People I should be helping instead of hurting. Right now, our biggest client is a company that sold fruit juice with antifreeze in it. A lot of kids got sick, but the company didn’t start recalling the juice until one of them died. They’re getting sued in a class action for eighty million dollars. It should be twice that.

The juice company hired us because we don’t settle. We don’t really defend them, either. We just stall. We drag our feet until we starve the other side out. That’s a win for us. We do our best to make it look like we’re not doing that. That’s where I come in.

The firm has me make most of the court appearances. I was flattered at first because they said a pretty face makes the firm look better in public. When my boss first told me how much I was helping, I felt really good. I like to make people happy. And the money’s pretty good.

But then I started having trouble sleeping.

    That’s when I started watching
