About this ebook

It doesn't matter where you’re heading to. For a travel photographer the process is the same even if the destination is the Moon. Yes, there are small changes, mostly logistics (you may need a passport and a visa or you may only need your national ID, you’ll drive or you’ll fly renting then a car in location, you may need a spacesuit or you can only take your casual clothes). But in any case you will need a camera, you will need a lens, you will need a memory card, you will need a bag. And you will need a ton of other things that we will discuss in depth in the book.

The scope of this book is to provide usable tips to travelers wishing to improve their photographing skills. The book will drive you through the entire process, starting with planning before the trip, being in location, and down to the return home. You will learn how to stay out of trouble, how to feel good in your trip, and how to return with better photos.

At the end of the book you will know how to balance your family life with your photography passion

This is the second book of "Essential Photography Tips" series. The first book of the series, "Essential Photography Tips - Get the Most out of Your DSLR", is intended for fresh DSLR owners who are looking to enhance their photographic skills.

    About the Author

    Foreword

What is most exciting is when the utterly unexpected happens, and you manage to be there at the right place at the right time – and push the shutter at the right moment. – Alex Webb (b. 1952, American photographer, member of Magnum Photos)

I am a traveler and a photographer for more than 10 years already. I am living my passion and I believe my life will not change much in the next 20 years.

During all these years, I went all over Europe, from Great Britain to Romania, and from Finland to Greece. I traveled in America, and I have been in Asia. I photographed the Northern Africa.

To tell you the truth, it doesn’t matter where you’re heading to. And you will need a ton of other things that we will discuss later.

The scope of this book is to provide usable tips to any traveler wishing to improve his or her photographing skills. Are you willing to take better pictures while in vacation with your family? I will drive you through my entire process, starting with planning before the trip, being in location, and all the way down to the return home. I will show you how to stay out of trouble. I will teach you how to feel good in your trip, and how to return with better photos. You will learn how to balance your family life with your photography passion.

What are you not going to find in this book? This book is not a travel guide, I will not tell you which countries to visit, or when to go (I will though explain the differences between different seasons from a photographic point of view). I will not ask you to buy a certain camera brand (I will not ask you to buy anything, on the contrary, I suggest you to start with what you have, you will figure out what else do you need in time). I will not explain you how to use your camera / lens / tripod / whatever, you will have to read the technical manuals by yourself.

Please note that some pieces of information are repeated under more chapters. Everything is working towards a better job; one idea is not excluding the other. You will often
