    Introduction

    Today, many people find themselves putting something into their mouth between meals once their stomach starts growling. Research shows that over 60% of American usually develops a habit of snacking. Unfortunately, most of us usually snack anything as long as it bears the name food, fruit or vegetable. In a separate study conducted to investigate the cause of obesity and high blood pressure, snacking sugary added snacks and snacks with high fat content has been shown to be in the forefront towards obesity, high blood sugar, diabetes, heart attack and other complications associated with poor dieting. 

    Fortunately enough, not all snacks are considered bad. There are some which are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and complex carbohydrate. Such snacks once consumed between main meals can improve food metabolism, increase energy production, increase digestion, boost immunity, eliminate free radicals from the body systems and facilitate the functionality of various organs in the body. Snacks can be included in a weight loss diet to help reduce bingeing and manage hunger. Research shows that eating a healthy snack such as
