Minecraft has been on the gaming market for more than four years now. Unsurprisingly, many people are still playing it. What could be the prime reason gamers are still enjoying this game? Is it that addictive? What are the aspects that regular video game players saw that are making them play it for that long? Does this game will ever get old in the eyes of gamers?
It is safe to say that the answer for that last question will be a no. Why? Well, it is a fact that Minecraft is not story driven. It does not make use of NPCs to relay a story, and there is no story to tell anyway. Alternatively, the players of this game do not need to fulfill any quest. They are perfectly to do anything that they want. Fundamentally, it does not provide any goal that a player must achieve. Actually, there are some, but they are not essential to the player’s progress in the world. In a nutshell, it has a game without an ending. It is up to the player to decide when he will stop.
So, what is the element that is keeping Minecraft fans playing the game? The answer to that is a bit tricky, and it depends upon the player. That element is the player’s creativity. As long as they have something they think they can do in Minecraft, they will do it. In a certain extent, one can say that Minecraft is a tool – an excellent tool for unleashing one’s imagination and enabling one’s desire to create.
Of course, people have their limits. They cannot do the same thing every time or look at the same world all of the time. Too much playing and seeing the same thing over and over and over again will trigger a certain emotion – boredom.
With that statement, another question arises. How can Minecraft prevent their players from getting bored? That is an easy question to answer. Customization. Customization has been the core trait or feature of Minecraft that has kept its players playing. By allowing the players to customize the game’s content, the players are actually creating ‘a new game’ for
