Chapter I – The Sleepless Night
Who was that man on the doorstep? Okami Hyou didn’t especially care, until she saw a money pouch he had.
Who are you?
asked Okami.
Nobody, I’m just a humble traveller.
said the stranger.
Then began the awkward moments of silence. Okami Hyou didn’t knew what to say or how to make up an excuse to get paid for her trouble as the stranger’s money pouch seemed to be full of gold coins.
Suddenly Okami notices that the stranger has slipped in when she was pondering the situation and had some Bread and Sake with him. Even though Okami kept it in secret, she is a quite drinker when it comes to Sake.
Can I have some too?
asked Okami.
Sure, it was yours after all.
said the stranger.
So, are you planning to pay for that too?
intrigued Okami asked.
Nope.
said the stranger.
Okami is not the brightest person in the world but even she understood that the stranger is just a plain old freeloader.
Not that the actual person looked even that old.
Give me your gold pouch or else!
said Okami with her threatening
voice.
Or else what?
asked the stranger.
Okami readied her Katana as a air on the room became thick of tension. Such impressive display should surely make the stranger give his gold pouch or at least leave in panic.
You have no idea who you are talking to, do you?
said the stranger with an arrogant voice.
I don’t especially care on this situation.
hastily replied Okami.
I’m a powerful demon disguised as a human. You are better to do whatever I say as you invited me in and thus I have the authority over your existence.
said the stranger.
Do you think I’m that stupid?
Okami said pridefully as his intelligence is not renown around the world.
What’s going on?
asked Kitsune who barged to room after she just woke up.
Our
guest says that he is a demon.
happy Okami replied.
Kitsune knew that when she is not around. Okami is bound to do something stupid as usual. Quickly she came up with the plan.
So, the stranger does not mind a duel to determine if he is a powerful demon or not?
inquired Kitsune.
Stranger heard that loud and clear. His bluff was called and now he is in a trouble. Unless he can come up with something good before it looks like he is thinking what to say.
I should just be going. I have no time for such a lowly mortals.
said the stranger as an attempt to bluff.
But I insist.
said Kitsune.
Also you should know that we are not exactly mortal anymore.
added Kitsune.
If he is a powerful demon, why he didn’t sense our demonic essence?
wondered Okami.
Only one way to be sure.
said Kitsune.
Oh well, it will be hard to clean the blade of all that blood after we are done.
said oddly eager Okami.
Okay, okay, I beg you. Spare me!
begged the suddenly fearful stranger.
Definitely not a demon.
said Kitsune.
Maybe he is a weak half-breed one?
wondered Okami.
Look. I’m just a plain old thief trying to get his living by barking to rich houses and demanding service. I once did found about this book which Okami had written about her past adventure and used the tale as an role model to become a thief. Just like Okami.
There is a huge difference, let me tell you!
said Okami,
There is?
asked Kitsune.
Of course. For us clan members, it is legal to liberate people of their valuables for good of the clan!
bragged Okami.
While they were arguing, the thief used the commotion and escaped.
awww, he got away.
said Okami.
Must not had been a huge fan, especially when he took that cut him up joke too seriously.
said Kitsune.
We were joking?
said dumbfounded Okami.
Whatever, you are your dumb self and I go to sleep AGAIN.
stated Kitsune.
Okay.
said Okami.
Chapter II – The Main Quest
Next morning Okami decided that she wanted to loot something and dragged Kitsune along for the yet another journey. However after reaching the town square, something peculiar happened.
Ooh, a golden rabbit!
screamed Okami.
Be quiet, the king does not take kindly when people yell and cause ruckus on his capital.
warned Kitsune.
That old fart?
said Okami.
Ahem.
said the king who has been standing before them but somehow gone unnoticed.
Oh great, it is the king Steve F…
Okami started to say without much thinking.
Shhh.
whispered Kitsune.
