    Callie often thought she’d like to have a skeleton in the family closet; an instant claim to fame, or maybe shame? Until the day she helped clean out Nanny Alice’s house, she didn’t know the family had one.

    In 2007 sixteen year old Callie discovers Alice’s memoir. Struggling with her own problems, Callie probes into her great-grandmother’s life as a means of escape, and unearths a secret which rocks the whole family.

    In 1932 sixteen year old Alice ran away from her dysfunctional home in Auckland, New Zealand. She travelled to the thermal town of Rotorua to build a new life. She encountered challenges and disappointments, yet found acceptance and love. But her past catches up with her and threatens to destroy her happiness.

    Alice and Callie pay a price to overcome their challenges and both learn there are some things you have to learn to live with.

    About the Author I’ve always loved reading and was an avid reader as a child. My father used to call me Miss Nose-in-a-Book for I didn’t hear the call to the lunch or dinner table because I was engrossed in a book. Teaching in New Zealand primary schools for over thirty five years, I’ve come across many wonderful books and reading them to my class is one of my favourite teaching activities. I’m an avid traveller and aspects of the countries I’ve visited appear in this novel. I’ve been involved in setting up a sewing project in the leprosy colonies of Thailand. That’s where I learnt about leprosy. My faith is very important to me and I include aspects of it in my books. The Wind Rises, a fantasy, was my first novel and a wonderful challenge. My second work is a novella of 1930's New Zealand and called Alice's Secret. Blessings: To This You Were Called came as a surprise and was the result of a study about how to pray effectively for others and myself. G M Lincoln
