      THE GIRL PROJECTS ALL her willpower, her hands alight with magic. The wooden sword she's enchanting lifts from the table, as a bright light illuminates the classroom's paneled walls. Careful, dear, I tell her. Don't put all your energy in at once, Meta. You'll need it to finish the enchantment. The blue glow slowly subsides until it disappears completely.

      I watch the young girl's hand movements closely, as the wooden sword hovers over the enchanting table, its grid lighting up with every motion. She recites the runes from a Sharpness I tome with great care, yet her pronunciation is still quite poor. At least she has the right aptitude for it.

      That will do for now, my child.

      The wooden sword stops levitating and drops onto the table. Meta wipes the sweat from her forehead, and closes the tome.

      Weary work, is it not? I ask. But don't worry, time and training makes a master. The more you practice your enchanting, the easier it will become. One day you'll learn to feel the magic running through every inch of your body—to see the path it takes in the material.

      Meta smiles and nods. You are right, it is hard work. But I won't give up.
