The day started just as any other day did.

I got up out of bed at five thirty and sat on the edge of it.

I wasn't a morning person at all, so it took me a minute to wake up.

My mother came into my bedroom and stood in the doorway, hands folded, weight shifted to one side of her body.

It was warm out this morning already and the day hadn't even officially started yet.

I walked over to my closet and pulled out a pair of jean cut off shorts and a plain white t-shirt.

Our classrooms were always extra hot, so I knew that if it was warm already that I should dress in something cool and comfortable.

You'd better hurry or we're going to be late! Jade said as she stomped into my room.

Okay, don't you see me getting dressed.

My sister Jade's bossiness almost always got on my nerves.

Sometimes I think that she forgot that I was
