Victoria Zigler

Victoria Zigler is a blind vegan poet and children's author. Born and raised in the shadow of the Black Mountains of Wales, UK, she moved away from Wales three times: once to spend six months living in Alberta, Canada, the other times to spend a few years living near Hastings on the South-East coast of England, UK, each time returning to Wales. Now she lives in Wales again, along with a chinchilla named Mollie, a West Highland White Terrier named Lilie, a Cavapoo named Logan, a Hermann’s Tortoise named Artemis, and her Canadian husband, Kelly.Despite spending far too much time in hospital, and eventually losing her sight to Congenital Glaucoma, Victoria - or Tori, if you prefer - has been writing since she knew how, with no plans to stop any time soon. So far she has published 11 poetry books and 46 children’s books. Tori is also a contributor of the sci-fi and fantasy anthology Wyrd Worlds II, as well as the Poetry Treasures anthology. Additionally, her Hermann’s Tortoise, Artemis, was featured in both the Magnificent Pets Coloring Book For Children and the Magnificent Pets Mandala Coloring Book For Adults.Vegan due to both a love for animals and dairy allergy, as well as an Eclectic Pagan, Tori describes herself as a combination of Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter books: Hermione’s thirst for knowledge and love of books, combined with Luna’s wandering mind and alternative way of looking at the world. She has a wide variety of interests, designed to exercise both the creative and logical sides of her brain, and dabbles in them at random depending on what she feels like doing at any given time, but is most likely to be found playing with her petkids, curled up somewhere with a cup of tea and a book, or trying to keep one step ahead of those pesky typo fairies while writing her own books.

    Prologue

Enid ground her teeth angrily as her jet black eyes took in the beautifully blooming plants and trees of the woods; her once beautiful fairy face twisted in disgust at the sight of the healthy green leaves of the trees, and vibrant colours of the plants and flowers.

She had been sure her curse would be enough to weaken the creatures of Earth so much they would be desperate for help from anyone; had been planning to swoop in then and break the curse herself, so she would be the heroine.

She had it all figured out so that the creatures of Earth would be so grateful to her that they’d never forget her again.

It had been the perfect plan.

    Or, she thought it had.

Until her plans had been ruined by that interfering faerie dragon, Zeena, and her nosy little pixie friend, Saarik.

Not to mention Enid’s own goody-two-shoes sister, Heidi the Earth fairy, who had been the reason Enid had wanted to make the creatures of Earth suffer. If it wasn’t for Heidi, she wouldn’t have bothered. But everyone always remembered Heidi, and Enid wanted them to remember her too.

Then there was that useless clan of korreds who were supposed to have been guarding her imprisoned sister. Enid didn’t even know what had happened to them, and didn’t really care anymore. All she cared about was the fact they had failed her.

All she cared about was the fact that faerie dragon – the one they called the wielder of the five magics of the elements - had ruined her plans, along with her nosy pest of a pixie friend.

Well, they wouldn’t spoil her plans this time!

This time everything would go her way, and people would notice her, and remember that there were more than four element fairies.

This time she’d make it more difficult for that annoying faerie dragon to poke her nose in, and ruin everything.

Nobody would ever forget about the Spirit fairy ever again; Enid would make sure of that.

Giving the woods one last disgusted look, as though they were to blame for everything, Enid turned her back on the woods; her black silk dress swirling around her ankles as she did so.
