Having been an Engineer in the disk drive industry since 1980 and served on ANSI (American National Standards Association), ECMA (European Computer Manufacturer’s Association) and as a Senior Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), I can tell you that we standardized the name disk to be spelled with
