    Opening Up - Notabot

    (Cover art by zdemian || http://zdemian.blogspot.com )

Laura waddled into the kitchen with a warm smile on her face that only grew when she saw her husband sitting at the dinner table. Samuel was looking off into nothing as he rapidly chewed his toast and washed the dry food down with some orange juice. As she moved closer, he turned his gaze toward his wife and gave a little grin. Morning, Laura.

Good morning, hon, Laura beamed, her hands running down the side of her large pregnant middle. She had on a blue maternity dress that bloomed out as her belly filled it up. Going soon?

I’d better, Samuel said as he downed the rest of his juice in one long sip. He was already changed into his pastel shirt with a plain green tie around his neck. Don’t wait up for me tonight again, okay? It’s important you get your rest.

I get plenty of rest, Laura said with a sighing laugh, stroking her bulging stomach. I manage to get at least two naps in a day since I got put on maternity leave.

So is that what you’ll be doing when I leave? Samuel chuckled, pushing his chair in as he stood up.

Oh no, I’ve still got my exercise class and I’ll run some errands, Laura said, her smile returning, though not as brightly as before.

Don’t have too much excitement, Samuel smiled, hovering his hand over Laura’s belly before bringing it to her shoulder instead. Though I’m sure the twins are in capable hands.

I hope so, Laura cooed, moving her hands under her belly, giving it a light lift. She could feel that stir her fetuses a bit but they hadn’t begun kicking yet. And with any luck, she hoped, they wouldn’t wait for her exercises to get active. Samuel leaned in for a kiss, planting his lips on Laura’s cheek and lightly pecking her. Their eyes met for a few moments afterward.

I didn’t want to kiss you on the mouth because I thought you could taste the orange juice, Samuel said, pointing to his lips. You said citrus made you nauseous now.

It does, thanks, Laura nodded with a little, polite smile. Samuel nodded back and headed out the door, picking up his bag on the way out. Laura sighed and picked up her husband’s dishes and shook them out in the sink, her belly gently bumping against the cabinet. Oof, I still haven’t gotten used to you, she said in a small, gentle voice, patting one hand against her roundness.

Laura waddled to the fridge, hands still tracing across her smooth middle as she picked out two cups of yogurt and began to eat it there in the kitchen. As Laura ate, she rolled up her dress to look at her bare pregnant middle. It was totally blemish-free and even had a bit of a glow like she’d always heard expectant women got. She giggled and let her hand rest against her maternal swell and felt the minute movements of her fetal twins.

Looking over her body, Laura found it a little hard to believe her husband hadn’t been more physical with her. She knew the pregnant form wasn’t exactly traditionally attractive, but Laura still felt beautiful. She’d stayed in shape, aside from the obvious beach ball in front of her, and other alluring parts of her body had grown a few extra inches. But the larger her belly got, the less intimate Samuel got with her.

Laura let out another little sigh and put her empty yogurt containers in the recycling and waddled to her bedroom, where she let out little moans as she bent over and struggled to fill her gym bag with her exercise attire. She may have only been 35 weeks along but with twins, she was already larger than other pregnant women ready to deliver.

She made her way onto the stoop of her house and stretched out in the warm summer air. Laura felt incredibly fortunate that she and her husband had found such a great place to live in the city. It was early in the day and a few joggers were already out, running past other pedestrians smiling and talking as they went about starting their day.

As Laura walked through the urban neighborhood to her gym, she could feel eyes on her, or more likely, on her belly. That made Laura blossom with joy and she held her hands closer to her round middle. She’d always wanted to be a mother, and now at 30, her dream already felt like a reality. Every non-verbal acknowledgement of her size and changing body reasserted that feeling inside Laura.

The gym was staring to fill up but Laura made her way to a separate section where several rows of stationary bikes were set up. A sign in the invisible divide between that section and the rest of the gym informed other patrons that this spot was currently being used for a class for the next half-hour with directions on how to join a class at the bottom.

Laura heaved her way over, already changed into her gym outfit of tight black shorts and a purple tank top made out of breathable material. On another woman, it may have been a very baggy top, but on Laura, it tightly clung to her body and still let a sliver of her flawless belly peek out near the bottom, not to mention revealed more of cleavage than she may have intended.

Nadia sat on the bike next to her, a warm grin on her face as she looked her pregnant friend over. You look cheery.

I’m trying to be, Laura smiled back, settling her feet onto the pedals. She’d already readjusted the seat to allow her to fit her pronounced pregnant stomach into the contraption. Being the only pregnant woman in the class, as far as she could tell, the equipment was not always designed with her in mind.

What’s wrong? Nadia asked as the instructor got into his own bike at the head of the group, testing out his headset.

As Laura began peddling, she looked over at her friend and sighed. He avoided kissing me on the lips again this morning.

Nadia made a disgusted sound with her teeth and shook her head. I don’t get that at all. It’s weird enough that he won’t touch your belly, let alone fuck you-

Nadia! Laura said in a low, nervous laugh as she felt a shudder go down her spine.

-but not even kiss the mother of his children on the lips? His wife? That’s so crazy, Nadia said, letting out a puff of air as she began to peddle faster to go along with the instructor’s command.

Laura just kept her head down and moved her legs to go along with everyone else. Nadia was the frankest person she knew when it came to sex and had no problems talking out loud about the matter, even in a crowded group like the one they were in now. It always embarrassed Laura but also gave her a little tickle she couldn’t — and didn’t want to
