Dr. Horowitz is Co-Founder and CSO for My Voice AI Ltd., London where he focuses on speaker recognition, intellectual property, biometrics, speech acoustics and patents as well building upon the My Voice Platform new and innovative structures. Dr. David M. Horowitz, who pursued his graduate studies in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), is a speech scientist who has led a distinguished 40-year career in industry as a C-Level Director, Entrepreneur and Scientist (expert in acoustic analysis and voice quality). He has worked for fortune 500 companies to solo operations. He performed research for nearly 10 years at MIT where he earned a graduate degree and held the highly competitive post of Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Horowitz has focused on speech and brain science, AI, conversational speech systems (early chatbots). He holds 10 patents. Dr. Horowitz has worked with U.K. start-up companies helping companies transform their theoretical concepts into usable technology since 2001. He maintains a hands-on style of engineering coupled with a collegial style of management through mentorship with a track record of delivery. His roles in industry began as a Lead Software Engineer responsible for several product ‘firsts’ in language, conversational personal assistants and music (sold VoiceRAD, the first commercially successful application of 1980s speech recognition technology. to Kurzweil AI). Dr. Horowitz’ work has formed the basis for his Ph.D. by Publication from the University of East-Anglia (U.E.A.), an honour and distinction awarded for his publications on human acoustics perception, digital signal processing, multi-modal robotics, and primarily in biomedical engineering applied to the rehabilitation of individuals with quadriplegia. His Ph.D. thesis represents a cohesive programme of visionary research spanning 11 years. Dr. Horowitz was responsible for the approval of approximately $30M of contracts for auditory cognition and artificial intelligence. He has been the lead of 2 large EU collaborative grants. He was Scientific and Technical Coordinator of FASiL which developed a chatbot for managing email, contacts and calendar/agenda. He first conceived of SpechXRays which was awarded best funded Horizon 2020 project out of hundreds of projects.
