About this ebook

The Red Moon pack is set in their ways and believe it isn’t possible for a man to have a male mate but Fate is about to show them the error of their ways.
Best friends since childhood, Ethan and Isaiah are both Betas in the Red Moon pack. They enjoy their bachelor status and aren’t interested in looking for mates. All that changes one fateful night when they discover they are destined for each other. Isaiah is ready to claim his mate, but Ethan resists their bond, afraid of how the pack will respond.
***
A passionate and strong Alpha, Noah is determined to lead the Red Moon pack into the future by modernizing how they relate to the outside world. Desperate to maintain control of the pack, the Elders have plotted against Noah for years. Their latest scheme is an attempt to force Noah into mating a power hungry female from another pack by threatening his younger brother. Noah vows to do whatever it takes to protect his brother, even if that means letting go of Mitchell, his fated mate.
Mitchell is overjoyed to find his fated mate, but convinces Noah to wait until after he escorts his sister to mate the Alpha of a neighboring pack to claim him. He is devastated when Noah suddenly rejects him and is determined to win Noah back when he discovers the Alpha his sister is promised to is his own fated mate.
***
When the Red Moon pack is threatened by Hunters, it becomes clear that someone has betrayed them. As the four men rally together to find the traitor and protect the pack they learn that attempting to deny destiny only leads to heartache and that fate never makes mistakes.

Chapter One

Sure mom, I’ll see what I can do. As Ethan walked out the front door of his parents’ house, the crisp autumn breeze cooled his body. Taking a deep calming breath, he headed towards his best friend, Isaiah’s house.

His mother was so predictable. When are you going to start looking for mate? I want grandcubs before I’m too old to play with them. Ethan chuckled to himself. Wolf shifters lived very long lives. His mother was seventy but looked as if she was in her early thirties. This past week she had been laying it on pretty thick, even for her. He was happy with his bachelor wolf status. The urge to mate simply wasn’t there, probably because he hadn’t met the right woman.

He’d made the trek to Isaiah’s so often that he arrived without paying attention to anything other than his thoughts. They were supposed to meet with Noah later this evening and he’d stopped by his parents beforehand. They had grown up together and after Noah took over as Alpha, he’d asked them to be his Betas. Now his mother’s nagging was clouding his mind and he’d have a hard time focusing. He should have skipped that visit.

Free to let himself in, Ethan was halfway through the door when the mouthwatering smell of warm apple pie scented the air, stopping him in his tracks. He was always the first in line when his mother made his favorite pie but he couldn’t figure out why Isaiah would be baking. He wasn’t much of a cook and rarely spent time in the kitchen.

Why are you baking? Ethan asked, ignoring the delicious smell and joined Isaiah in the living room.

I’m not, Isaiah eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. You know I hate to bake.

The irresistible smell grew stronger with each step and Ethan’s body went rigid with arousal. He barely held himself back from pulling Isaiah into his arms and kissing the hell out of him. His body’s reaction to the intoxicating scent told Ethan all he needed to know. Shit, this couldn’t be real.

Shit, Isaiah said, his eyes widening with shock.

They were... mates.

Ethan’s mind spun. They’d grown up together, were practically inseparable, and had never reacted to each other this way before. Why now? His mother had doubled her efforts to find him a mate. Had Fate decided to step in and show her who is boss?

This can’t be happening, Ethan whispered. This mating would not go over well with the Elders. They were set in their ways, consistently rebuffing anything new or different while clinging to the past. They wouldn’t accept an unconventional mating. Having known Isaiah since childhood, Ethan easily recognized the hurt that flashed in his eyes before he schooled his features.

The pack will shit bricks, at the very least. They may even try to kick us out, Isaiah said, hitting the mark dead on.

How are we going to keep them from finding out? My wolf is riding me hard to claim you right now.

Mine too, but we’ll have to fight it. If the urge to mate gets overwhelming we might have to find someone else to relieve the pressure with, Isaiah groaned, his eyes scrunching up in misery. Ugh, my wolf is clawing at me for saying that.

I’ve got to go. A heavy weight settled in the pit of Ethan’s stomach as he walked out the door. They were mates but couldn’t claim each other, not without jeopardizing their place in the pack and the only home they’d ever known. He would have laughed at their predicament if it hadn’t been so damn frustrating. Fate sure has a strange sense of humor sometimes.

***

Isaiah watched Ethan walk out before collapsing onto the couch with a heavy sigh. Resting his elbows on his knees, he dropped his head down into his hands, grabbing at his hair. How in the hell were they going to keep this a secret? His wolf was clawing at him to go after their mate and claim him. The moment Ethan stepped into the house his senses had flooded with the rich scent of chocolate. It took him no less than a second to realize why and for his body to turn hard as a rock. Their friendship had started when they were cubs and they’d grown closer after Ethan’s parents had taken him in when his own died. They were best friends and Isaiah had never once considered that Ethan could be his mate.

It was going to be a bitch to be around Ethan every day, smelling him, wanting him, and knowing they couldn’t be together. He’d never given much thought to his sexuality and had never thought of himself as gay. It didn’t matter now. Hell, he was willing to be whatever his mate needed him to be. The only reason he’d suggested resisting their bond was the flash of horror in his best friend’s eyes and it’d nearly killed him to suggest they try to satisfy their desire with anyone else.

Hell, the Elders hated that Noah was trying to modernize and let members work outside the pack. They clung to the old ways, when the pack worked as one and evenly distributed everything amongst themselves. That concept was getting less practical by the day but this was different. No one knew if it was possible for a man to mate with anyone other than a woman. What if we’re the ones destined to change how the pack thinks about mating? Isaiah knew he was reaching, but Fate wouldn’t have chosen Ethan for him if they weren’t supposed to be together.

Maybe with time, Ethan and the pack would come around. Isaiah’s laugh was humorless. He’d finally found his mate, but they couldn’t be together. Wasn’t that a bitch? Grabbing his keys from the table next to the door, Isaiah left for Noah’s.

Walking slowly, he and his wolf tried to prepare themselves to see Ethan again. It wasn’t going to be easy. Maybe it was his imagination, but Ethan’s scent seemed to fill the air. Son of a bitch. He needed to come up with a game plan to win Ethan but until then Isaiah would bide his time and hope Ethan decided they were a good match on his own.

Isaiah steeled himself before knocking on the door but frowned when Noah opened it and he discovered Ethan wasn’t there.

Ethan called while you were on your way. His mother needed some help at home so we’re going to reschedule. I’d like to go over a few things and it’s easier on me if you’re both here so I only have to say it once, Noah joked.

Yeah, I bet she did. Isaiah planted a false smile on his face, No problem. Let me know when you need me to come back.

Noah leaned against the doorframe, staring at Isaiah intently. Ethan sounded a little off when I spoke to him and you’re looking pretty serious right now. Is something going on that I should know about?

He hasn’t mentioned anything to me, but I’ll talk to him. Ethan was running from their bond but Noah didn’t need to know about it until they’d decided what to do.

You know you can talk to me about anything, right? Not only as your Alpha, but as your friend.

Yeah, I know, Isaiah sighed.

Chapter Two

Isaiah, wait up, Noah called out to his friend. Nothing had felt right between Ethan and Isaiah since the night of their meeting two months ago and he needed to find out what was going on with his Betas.

What’s up? Isaiah paused, waiting for Noah.

There’s a new bar in town, want to go check it out? It’s nice to get away from the pack every once in a while.

Noah watched as Isaiah thought it over. Something was definitely wrong. Isaiah never passed up a chance to hang out with his friends.

Yeah, I guess that sounds okay. When did you want to leave?

We can go now, if you like, Noah pulled his keys out of his pocket. "We
