- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Terrible writing not realistic considering the time period and it felt like a mashup of all the romance genres you could fit in one short story, they spent too much time on the set up and almost no time on the sex scene. Major disappointment. Waste of time.

No traveler ever wanted to stop, but passing up Last Chance was a feat only the fool hearted or stubborn tried to accomplish. The locals were frightening, yes, but attempting to make it through the mountain pass beyond Last Chance without a full set of supplies had only been accomplished by a small number of people, and even those tales are listened to with a healthy dose of skepticism. With begrudging hesitancy, wagons would pull aside on the edge of town, positioning themselves for a fast exit.
The stories that people told about the people from this area were legends for hundreds of miles in any direction. Every town had their own versions that they would tell, warning travelers of what lay ahead if they continued down the road into Last Chance. Exaggerated tales of men who were part beast, ready to rip the head of anyone who looked at them the wrong way spread like wildfire. No one truly believed them when they heard them, but after looking into the eyes of some of the people, they weren’t ready to discount the stories either.
The wagon train making its way for the far west timed its journey so that they would be stopping in Last Chance early in the afternoon, giving themselves plenty of time to get the supplies they needed and get moving again before nightfall, distancing themselves from whatever danger they may fall victim to should they stay. The women and children stayed safely hidden inside the wagons, while the men either stood guard or went looking for merchants and traders who could provide the supplies they needed for the mountains.
Some of the children peered through the openings in the canvas, hoping to see first hand what these people were actually like. The mothers
