About this ebook
Jo Siffert combined determinism, youth and great speed as a promising sports car and Formula 1 driver coming along in the early 1960s. He began racing F1 cars in 1962, soon purchasing his own British Racing Motors (BRM) car. He served as driver as well as team manager. From modest means the Swiss racer began his career racing motorcycles, and earned trophies doing so. Perhaps the sole negative in his short F1 career was a lack of access to good equipment, which he began to obtain in 1968, three years before his untimely death .Along with Formula One Jo drove factory entered Porsche sports cars at the 24 Hours of Daytona and Sebring International, among other racing venues. He was often teamed with Hans Herrmann and competed against Vic Elford in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

We will have a slightly different car at Sebring, Herrmann remarked. It will be the
same engine but a slightly shorter body. Porsche manager Fritz Huschke von Hanstein (January 3, 1911-January 5, 1996) commented, We have always had competition. We are not afraid. Von Hanstein announced that Porsche was working on an engine bigger than the 2.2 liter it used at Daytona.
Alfa Romeo cars finished 5th, 6th and 7th at Daytona. Alfa was preparing to run a larger, 3-liter engine at Sebring. The winning car was started by Victor Vic Henry Elford (born June
