About this ebook

Blurb: Vampire Picnic

Camdyn’s a registered nurse who’s seen it all, but even by fang-bang freaky trip to Spanktown standards, she’s having the strangest night shift imaginable. Pint bags of plasma disappear into thin air, and an overmedicated patient claims an Elvis-loving vampire is lurking in the hospital. With all this crazy talk of vampires, she just wants to relax with a steamy romance novel.

Surprise, her wildest fantasies come true when Rory, a handsome Irish vampire, drags her into the basement. He reveals he must drink living blood to regenerate and save innocent lives. When Camdyn consents to share, she gets the thrill of a lifetime.

Author’s note: this is a quick 11k, 23-page read. It’s meant to offer a sip of my characters and hopefully whet your appetite for more. It’s fun and steamy, so enjoy. As a bonus, a comic blog post, “Bend Over Madame,” is included.

Look for future stories featuring Rory Ravenscroft coming soon.

I wish to thank two sweet, funny and talented author friends who were kind enough to help me pull an early version of Vampire’s Picnic together. Kimberly Richards, you are a wonderful Goth-girl geek extraordinaire, and Melissa Limoges you are a sunny buttercup. Thank you ladies!

    ––––––––

Seacliff Memorial Hospital 4:13 a.m. Nurses station, ninth floor.

Sleek and midnight blue, the silhouette of the mysterious prince glided through the open window, his flowing Prussian cloak fluttering in his wake. With wraith-like grace, he landed at the foot of her bed. Boot heels struck the parquet floor with a gentle clack. For a heartbeat, he remained static, as solid and imposing as marble.

Ivory stared in disbelief. Could this be real? A man flying through her window? All her senses screamed yes. The soft sounds of footsteps approaching in the dark triggered every instinct to flee. She darted from the bed, dragging the covers with her.

Wait! he commanded. In one long stride, he blocked her path. His chilled hand grasped her shoulder. With a single masterful touch, he took control of her. Turning his back to the bolted door, he denied her the only possible route of escape.

Trapped, she was easy prey. She clutched the sheet to her throat, trembling.

He glared at the lone candle on the nightstand and extinguished it with an angry hiss. The wick blackened and curled. A tendril of rising smoke formed the wispy loop of a hangman’s noose, before dissipating.

    She recoiled. Please. No.

He stepped closer, a grim expression carved into his beautifully sculpted mouth. Standing so near, she was enthralled by his presence. The warm scent of Baltic amber roiling off his skin was at odds with his icy smile. The absence of a reflection in the beveled mirror confirmed her earlier suspicion that he belonged to the shadow realms.

In silence, he pushed the cowl from his forehead. Cheekbones steep as sea cliffs defined the rugged face of a nobleman. The quicksilver gaze of one of Hell’s rowdiest ringleaders confronted her.

What are you-u-u? she stammered. A demon? Primal fear, noxious as tar, oozed to the surface. What do you want from me?

A bargain. The tip of his tongue flicked the edges of his lips. With posture razor-straight, his demeanor was as frosty as the peaks of the Urals. He unfastened a
