About this ebook

Frozen rivers, ice bridges, and runaway huskies are romantic tales of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race, until Andy Middleton moves to Alaska. She soon discovers there is more to mushing than standing on the back of a sled. The brooding photographer, Ryan North, who rescues her from a fall is no help whatsoever. After she bribes him to teach her to mush, and they are forced to spend the night in a bitter storm, Andy discovers a talented, competent man.

The last thing Ryan North wants is to get involved with the foolish redhead from SnowDen Kennels. She nearly hit him with her Jeep, and she has a temper to match her hair. While he doesn't trust her, he admires her unfailing resilience and forthright determination.

Reviewed by: JoAnneBook provided by: PublisherReview originally posted at Romancing the BookThe pages came alive with all the vivid descriptions of Alaska – the snow, mountains, nights, the Iditarod, mushing, the people, dogs, animals, and sleds. I felt I was there and seeing Alaska through my eyes but also feeling and hearing the cold, the wind howling, the dogs racing and howling, the avalanche, the wetness from being outdoors and the friendships that were formed. It was a wonderful book and story from beginning to end and I didn’t want to put it down.Although I wouldn’t characterize this as a romance novel but more of an adventure, there were romantic overtones. There was something lurking just under the surface whenever Andy and Ryan were together but neither one knew what it was. They both had problems to solve in their own lives before taking on a love interest. The interactions between them as well as with Alex, Emma and Jake all seemed very real. Alex had such a big heart and wanted to help everyone but no one knew how to take her. Most thought she was too dominant, overbearing and just wanted to do things her way. They didn’t realize until later what a big heart she has and how her only interest was to better her friends lives and businesses by helping out where she had expertise. There was a happily ever after that was a nice surprise and gave the story wonderful closure.Stremikis is a new to me author and I look forward to reading her other books if this is her caliber of writing.
