Synopsis: A woman decides to take a chance on another mail order husband, and one who had rejected many women before her. It’s very difficult at first and she fears rejection at every turn but after a few weeks, she has a chance to prove herself by showing him just what she can accomplish.

Jack stepped out of the general store only to get nearly run over by the stagecoach as it headed out of town. He seldom saw it move this fast while still within the boundaries of a town. It hadn’t been in town that long, either, he thought, as he had just stopped into the store to get a few supplies for his wife. As he put the supplies into his buckboard wagon, Wayne greeted him.

The stage on fire this morning? teased Jack.

You would think, replied Wayne. But I guess they are running behind today. I just feel for anyone that is headed for Crestview. From what the driver said, they won’t be making that trip again for a couple of weeks.

    Why?

Don’t know. But then again, his head wasn’t into talking as he was just throwing things up on top of the coach.

So, did Darcy’s latest wife make the stage?

You kidding, she was the first one on there even before anyone could get off! exclaimed Wayne. Poor Ms. Smithers had boot prints all over her dress. Both men did belly laughs but then tuned it down, as they didn’t want to others to get the idea they were taking light of what their friend Darcy was going through.

No one would really blame them as his latest wife made it a point for everyone to know what was going on in their house. According to her, calling him as being difficult and demanding was an understatement.

Both men started walking to the telegraph house, meeting up with their friends and getting any news. Well, we will hear about it soon enough, commented Wayne. You know how that vine is.

And we will see Darcy soon enough, too, replied Jack.

Darcy stepped in to telegraph house to find a few of his old buddies chatting with Jessie the clerk. The expression on their faces told them all that they weren’t expecting to hear from his this soon, as his ex-wife had just left. His regular routine when a wife would leave, would be spending a few days at the bottom of a bottle at the saloon before he would see, much less talk to anyone. And it would be nearly a month or more before coming to the telegraph building to send out a message for another bride

Morning, Darcy. What bring you around? asked Jessie.

Morning, replied Darcy as he acknowledged the other men in the building, Jessie, Malcolm, Wayne, Michael, Robert, Jack. Jessie, do you still hear from that Jessup fella on the mail order brides?

You’re looking for another wife, Darcy? What are you doing with all these girls, starting a harem? teased Malcolm, who was quickly jabbed by one of the other men.

It’s all good, Darcy, replied Jessie. Unfortunately, you just missed him. He was here two days ago. Nat Wilson and the Bigham brothers are also looking for wives. I will wire him ahead to add you to his list.

Much appreciated, Jessie, answered Darcy. Give my regards to your wives gentlemen. Darcy quietly let the building. Normally, Darcy was a lot more talkative when he visited town and the telegraph house, but not today. The other men wondered what Malcolm had said or if Darcy had other things on his mind. I meant nothing by it, replied Malcolm. You know it was all in good fun.

Yeah, be it may, he has had a hard time with the wives he has been getting. commented Jack.
