A Dragon for the Princess

About this ebook
All Arthur’s knights have succeeded on the battlefield and in matters of love, but the King himself is alone. Just like he had to do with Guinevere, he goes to London intending to ask for the Princess’ hand, to make a political alliance for the good of the kingdom. But what he wants is love. More than a kingdom.
Katherine had been locked in the Tower of London most of her life because she won’t bow to the Prime Minister’s plans to remake Britain in her own twisted image. When Arthur sees Katherine, he knows he must try to win her for himself and not as a king. The princess doesn’t know Arthur’s real identity, but there’s no mistaking the force of his love.
Will the Dragon of Britain find a princess to claim his heart and not just his crown? And how can Katherine, the last scion of her house, expect to marry for love?

Chapter One
Katherine Windsor sat quietly in the back seat of the long, black limousine driving her to her father’s wedding. Her chauffer did not speak to her, and she didn’t bother trying to get him to do so. It would be hopeless to try to convince him to take her anywhere but St. George’s, Hanover Square, where the reporters and soldiers––and cameras and guns and enchanted guards––were all gathering.
No, there would be no reasoning with someone so entirely under the spells of Morgana le Fay, also known as Prime Minister Morgan. So Katherine simply looked out the window and enjoyed the view. She had not been allowed outside the Tower of London for over three years––not since she had been dragged out to meet and greet the last foreign ambassadors Britain had entertained.
The streets were eerily empty of cars, but the sidewalks were lined with cheering fans. All the young and beautiful Britons watched and waved, and Katherine sighed. The sky was grey, with lowering clouds, and she prayed for rain. That would cut short the public appearances required of her.
Here you are, sweetling!
The car stopped, and the door opened. Katherine stepped out and into the embrace of her father, King George VII.
Father.
Katherine did not smile, but she did not shy away from him. He tucked her arm in his and led her up the half dozen stairs in front of the church. Its six magnificent stone columns drew her eye, and she looked up to the carven caps.
Can’t you smile for the cameras, Katherine?
Her father spoke through his teeth, not breaking his own smile as he waved at the reporters.
Katherine nodded decorously, but she still didn’t bother to smile. Father, do you realize this is probably the most foolish thing you’ve done since Mother died?
George laughed as though she’d made a joke, and he continued to smile without responding aloud until they were alone inside the church, in a small dressing room, which looked to Katherine to be a converted nursery. She’d caught a glimpse of the sanctuary as they rushed past, and it was all orange flowers and gold streamers decorating the deep red wood of the pews.
Garish, thought Katherine.
You’re crazy, Katherine.
George dropped her arm once they were alone. PM Morgan—Morgana—is our only hope against the northern aggression.
Against King Arthur.
Katherine shook her head. She of all people had not once doubted the reality of Arthur’s claims, and she was hoping that the rumors of his march on Glastonbury were true.
Against some Scottish rebels.
George adjusted his frock coat. Listen, Katherine, I know you’ve not always agreed with my political decisions.
Try never, thought Katherine, but she didn’t interrupt her father.
"But you have to realize I know what’s best. I’ve
