About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Emotional Healing are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.

In this book, we explore seven topics, from different verses in the books of Matthew, Acts of the Apostles, 1Corinthians, Ephesians, 1Thessalonians, 2Timothy and Revelation. They are: Do not worry; Rejected by men; Living free from concerns; Managing Anger; Rejoice; Persecution; and Let us rejoice.

Excerpts:

Do not worry

“God cares for you as a father, get that into your head and stop throwing tantrums but lean on God. You will see that by doing that you allow God to be for you who he his, your heavenly father.”

Rejected by men

“Jesus told the disciples that the man born blind, was like that, so that the glory of God will manifest, and he went ahead to open his eyes, bringing Jesus into a further confrontation with the Pharisee and further rejection of Jesus. They maligned him as an evil doer/sinner when he was only doing the work of God, only helping people. If Jesus the best man than ever lived suffered rejection, then who do you think you are, that your case will be different?”

Living free from concerns

“God also said that Isaiah should not fear the people’s fear. He was meant to live above the fear that chokes the people. The recommendation is that let the Lord be your fear. The fear of the lord will cure you of all other kinds of fear. The stronger you gaze on God, the lesser the problem around you seem to be. We are called to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might, and not to be afraid of the devil (Ephesians 6:10).”

Managing Anger

“The verse after the focus verse states partly: “neither give place to the devil”; showing the direct link between the emotion of anger that is allowed to fester for too long, not reined in, and the devil. Paul termed it: giving place to the devil; to do what? – To steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). And for Paul, too long, means overnight.”

Rejoice

“Can you imagine the level of joy and excitement in the hearts of the children of Israel when by the mighty hand of God they were freed from the servitude in the Egypt, the place of tears and pain and death for them (Exodus 15:1-21)? They could not help but sing. They said: I will sing unto the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously, the horse and his riders he has thrown into the sea. They came from death to life.”

Persecution

“The only way they will stop persecuting you, is if you are dead. But be careful not to return hate with hate.

“That will be against the law of love (Matthew 5:43-48), and that is actually the trap the devil wants you to fall into in the first place. Let’s take the higher way (1Corinthians 13:4-13).”

Let us rejoice

“In the wilderness, Jesus, by doing the right thing, did not lose out in the onslaught of the devil’s temptation on him. Nothing wins like righteousness. That is when we shine as light and darkness is dispersed. We cannot just say: Jesus is Lord and not do what he says (Luke 6:46). When we allow him to reign in our lives, he reigns through us.”
