About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore thirteen topics, from different verses in the book of Psalms. They are: Jesus: The quintessential man; Holy One; God came down: an exploration of the incarnation; The Lord as shepherd; The afflictions of the righteous; The battle for truth, meekness and righteousness; Jesus takes our burdens; Revival; The great shepherd; A sign for good; Jesus: David’s seed; Hope in the Lord; and  ‘The Lord will accomplish what concerns me’.
Excerpts:
Jesus: The quintessential man
“Through the name of Jesus, we are free from the consequence of and bondage to sin. Remember that the name means he would save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). He is in us in his righteousness and with that we are restored back to the full righteousness of God. Being in Christ, we have justification (Acts 13:37-39). We are discharged and acquitted from bearing the burden of the sin of Adam.”
Holy One
“And the burial in the horse and its rider, as described by Moses is interesting. They sank into the bottom of the seas as if big stones were tied to them, with no possibility of coming up again. At the end, we have only songs of praise to God in our heart to the Holy One, Jesus Christ the Lord.”
God came down: an exploration of the incarnation
“In the Old Testament, God came down in the Garden of Eden, but that privilege was lost because of the sin of man. He came down to visit Abraham, as a part of the friendship, declaring that he will have a son through aged Sarah the next year and he informed him of his plan for Sodom and Gomorrah because Lot, his nephew was there (Genesis 18). To Moses, God said that he has come down to rescue the children of Israel, after many years of bondage (Exodus 3:6-10). But in the New Testament, God had come on the earth twice; once in Jesus; now God is on the earth in the Holy Spirit, who has the mandate to glorify Jesus (John 16:13-14).”
The Lord as shepherd
“Jesus said that if anyone will follow him he must deny himself carry his cross and follow him (Luke 9:22-24). Is that not the calling of the sheep, to follow the shepherd? The cross is the commitment to live for him by dying to the flesh, to your own will. Then you give him the opportunity for him to be all he can be in your life.”

The afflictions of the righteous
“The book of Romans says that we rejoice in tribulation, because the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts (Romans 5:1-5). The persecution does not draw us back because we are not afraid of those who can only have an effect on us in this world and not in the afterlife (Matthew 10:28), but it strengthens our attachment (love) to God.”
The battle for truth, meekness and righteousness
“It is time for you to step up your game in the areas of truth, meekness and righteousness. Recognise the work of Christ in these areas of your life so you don’t resist him. Understand that he wants to pull you into more truth, make you like him in meekness and battle to the finish every last strand and any trace of unrighteousness.

“Beyond that, you are called to be in his army with truth meekness and righteousness as your battle cry, since you are a soldier of Jesus Christ (2Timothy 2:3, Revelation 19:11-14).”
Jesus takes our burdens
“Jesus experienced his own chase away from the “Garden of Eden” of the favour and presence of God. Adam experienced that for his own sin. But Jesus experienced it for our sin so that we might be free from sin.”
