About this ebook
This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of Acts and Romans. They are: I too am a man; Proclaiming light; Salvation; The true Jew; and The Lord’s property.
Excerpts:
I too am a man
“John the Baptist was told in the book of Revelation: come up hither (Revelation 4:1). Revelation is elevated sight, sight elevated to the realm of God, it is exposure to higher light.
Proclaiming light
“Before then, John said: I was in the spirit on the Lord’s Day. “In the spirit” is the place of revelation. It was the light of divine revelation which caused Peter to say that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God (Matthew 16:15-17).”
Salvation
“Sanctification is about what your relationship should now be with the world, it is about a journey of personal transformation. Paul wrote that we all should know how we ought to keep our vessel (spirit soul and body) in holiness (1Thessalonians 4:3-5). Sanctification has to do with your dedication to the cause of God, and moving away from the love of the world. The bible says that we should keep our garments unspotted from the world. That is the call of sanctification, which is part of salvation, i.e. in an ongoing sense. Then we are in pursuit of the holiness of God. We are told that we are to be holy as the lord our God is holy (1Peter 1:15-16).”
The true Jew
“The Jews were proud of and attached to their historical heritage, but Jesus left his own heritage in heaven to share the same with us. He left heaven to come after us and take us there. The Jews points back to history, speaking of the manna from heaven which they enjoyed for forty years under Moses in the wilderness, but Jesus was the bread from heaven giving spiritual life, while those who ate the manna all died (John 6:47-51).”
The Lord’s property
“When he saved you, there was a caveat: he becomes you Lord. That is why confessing Jesus as Lord is a prerequisite for the experience of salvation (Romans 10:9). With that, you are set apart for his use. His ideas are better than yours since he sees from a higher vantage, so submitting to him is the wisest decision anyone can make. Allow him to be in control of your life, he is not going to drive you into the pit for he is the light and if you follow him, you will not walk in darkness (John 12:46). See yourself as the Lord’s property and act accordingly with no agenda of your own except the one he gives you, with no direction except the one he points to you, with no decision except the one he tells you. Be emptied of your own life and live his life; it is a more glorious form of existence.”
