About this ebook

Five people are booked into separate rooms in a five star hotel in a city in the south. Each person in their own way has a problem. Some of the individuals know that they have a problem and want to do something about it; others have a problem but don’t know they have it and at least one person will be carried away by their issues. The City of the New South has been here a long time and has seen many difficulties. It has even had its own problems because it was once burnt completely to the ground by men from the north. Prayer threads hang above the city and at least one prayer thread belongs to one member of the group. That woman is desperate and unless God hears her prayer tonight she will take her own life before morning.

    City of the New South

You are in a sleek prosperous city of the New South. If you look around at all the buildings and the prosperity you’d never know that this city was once burnt completely to the ground. The city was burnt not by Native Americans or by the Spanish but by men from the north, men who spoke the same language and had the same culture.

You are at a business conference in the city. You walk out to the hotel pool and sit down. It has been a long day but it was a good conference and you’re glad to have the chance to relax. There are already some people sitting by the pool. These are fellow travelers, now out of their skirts and suits. Do you ever wonder about them, these people who share the hotel with you?

In front of you is a woman who looks to be in her late thirties. Her name is Caroline Butler. She is Vice President of a company from Chicago and she comes down here for one week a month. Her task is to help an ailing subsidiary get back on its feet. She’s doing her task well, she is capable and efficient. To the people in the office in Atlanta she is cool and asexual but the woman sitting by the pool bursts with sexual energy. In fact, Caroline will be having sex tonight, it just won’t be with her husband because he’s back at home in Chicago.

Over to Caroline’s left is Roger Vernon. Roger is a Vice President too, this is an exclusive hotel so having two Vice Presidents so close to each other is not unusual. Roger is down here on an all expenses paid trip because his company needs a new machine. The machine will cost over two hundred thousand dollars and for the salesman, Hal Fraser, this is a make or break deal. Hal is up against a company in the Russian Federation. Hal is on the way here now and before he left his boss told him that if he doesn’t sell the machine to Roger Vernon then Hal can go and look for a new job. Hal is confident, he knows the new machine is better than the previous model and he expects to sell. What Hal doesn’t know is that when Roger Vernon was in Russia earlier this year the Russians did something that will clinch the deal for them. Roger was going over specs in his hotel room when the Russians sent two Estonian women over to tuck him in. The Estonian women arrived at ten in the evening and left at six in the morning. In between those hours they took Roger all the way to paradise and back. Roger is going back to Russia in one week and he’s expecting the same treatment as last time. If he gets it then he’ll buy the Russian machine and Hal will lose out not to a slick Russian salesman but to two young Estonian women.

Over to Roger’s left, sits Megan Hunter. Megan is lonely, depressed and later tonight she plans to kill herself. She sits by the pool thinking about her failed marriage. Since she split with her husband her work has gone to pieces. Megan is still a beautiful woman but inside her soul is shattered. Before she came down to the pool she offered a short prayer. She asked that if her life is worth saving, then tonight she will find a man who will make her happy. Megan sits by the pool trying not to burst into tears, silently sending her prayer out knowing that things are too far gone for there to be any hope. Little does she know that her desperate prayer has made a tiny thread, a thread that connects her to a young German man two miles away.

Klaus Reinhart sits in one of the cheaper hotels in Atlanta. Tonight he has prayed
