21 Ways to Invite Excellence into your Life

About this ebook
The book is a compilation of the ways that I faced my past, healed from hurts, looked inside to find the real me, and then began my journey to my best self through personal development.
A few of the things I discuss are the need for spirituality, how to face our fears, starting your day with peace, and personal accountability. I discuss many other things that relate to growth and becoming our best self. We are much more than we allow ourselves to be. Most of us don't even realize our potential. We are all great in some way, we just need to find a way to let it out. Isn't it time you allowed your best self to shine? This is my perspective on moving forward in life from just surviving to actually loving life. I know it works, because I did it.

Jenny Hester is a wife, mom of 3, author, blogger, encourager, and beach lover. She blogs at jenniferhester.com and is the author of “21 Ways to Invite Excellence into Your Life.” Jenny grew up in a farming family where she spent many hours using nature as her toy box. She was raised alongside the boys where she learned how to shoot, hunt, ride motorcycles, and ride horses. Her tomboy nature fit right in with the outdoors. Not all of Jenny’s childhood was pain-free. A series of traumatic experiences capped by her mom’s diagnosis with breast cancer eroded 12-year-old Jenny’s ability to trust and drove her to put up emotional walls she would struggle with for years. Existing behind those self-constructed barriers led to an unauthentic life. Jenny would do what she thought was “safe” and live the life she sensed others wanted her to live. Jenny discovered how living an unauthentic life leads to unhappiness and causes emotional and physical ailments. Such also led to an unhealthy co-dependent lifestyle. In 2010, her life seemed to fall apart both physically and emotionally. After having seen numerous doctors, even at the university level, she was told, “You’re not going to find what you’re looking for in mainstream medicine.” So she went outside mainstream medicine and found an integrative medical specialist who helped with the physical ailments. The doctors before wanted to medicate symptoms, but now the root causes of the ailments have been discovered and addressed. Today she is 100% free of all prescription medications and the healthiest she has ever been. Healing the emotional wounds required some outside help as well. Jenny found a counselor who helped her finally face the pain of emotional trauma and she began tearing down those walls. Her road to recovery was filled with new self-awareness and focus on personal development. This new awareness was salve to her soul. As the walls came crumbling down, hope began to emerge. Instead of looking outside for happiness, Jenny started to look within to discover what made her happy. Jenny is now beginning her new authentic life with peace, confidence, and optimism for the future. She wrote this book to help other women who are struggling with past pains, co-dependency, and are seeking to discover their best self.

Foreword
For twelve years I wanted to make drastic changes in my life, I was sick of simply existing. I was at a job I absolutely hated, I was 170 pounds over-weight and every day I dreamed of moving to Maui, Hawaii.
When I thought about these changes I laughed, there was no way a guy with no college degree or any special skills could make big changes like those, it seemed impossible.
I dreamed for years and years, every time I wanted to do something about those dreams, I listened to my doubts and fears, I let them keep me from taking action.
It wasn’t until the death of my father that I woke up, I realized how short life truly was and that if I didn’t do something soon, I would die having lived a life of regret. I knew today was the day to make changes, today was the day I had to do something about my dreams.
In 2011 I took action on my ultimate dream of being a writer and I self-published a book called Tales of the Everyday Working Man and Woman. The day the book was published was the happiest day of my life.
So many people had told me they were going to buy the book I thought I was going to be rich! You know how it goes, right? The book completely flopped. It sold five copies in the first six months it was out.
As the months went on, the doubts, fears and negative voices in my head came back in force, I was ready to give up.
It was a conversation with a young man who told me that my blog was helping him, my writing was helping him. He woke me up to my true mission. From that point on I changed my mindset, remember that word.
Once I shifted how and what I thought about my dream and mission in life, I saw the results. Over the next three years both of my self-published books went on to sell over 82,000 copies and I got a book deal with a big publisher.
I’ve lost 155 pounds and counting, we now live in Maui, Hawaii. I’m living a life I thought was impossible, we have to pinch ourselves.
I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t change the way I thought, if I didn’t change my
