      Chapter One

      Liz looked down at the top of a little brown hair. She smiled as she smoothed her son’s hair back from the crown of his head. What do you want for dinner honey? It’s your turn to pick the dinner and a movie.

      At 32 Liz couldn’t complain much about her life. She had a great job that she was good at. Her pay wasn’t’ bad either and she had the most amazing little 4-year-old boy. Travis was her pride and joy and she loved him more than anything in the world but then again she assumed that all mothers did unless they were crazy.

      His little head pushed backward as his little blue eyes found hers and he smiled.

      Pizza! He yelled in his little squeaky voice.

      Alright, pizza it is. I assume you want cheese right?

      Yes, pwease. His little voice only made her want to hug him even more. It was times like this that she felt complete even though other times she had felt the loneliness creep in.

      Liz was an accomplished general manager in one of the largest department stores in the country. She knew she should be proud of herself and she was happy with her accomplishments, but sometimes she just wished she had someone to share them with.

      They made their way to her car. She had decided to tell Britney she would pick him up at her house. It was routine on Fridays.

      Friday nights were her night with Travis. They would often grab something to eat to go and then go by the movie rental place and grab a movie. At the moment, he was on a Sesame Street kick and the last few weeks had been anything Sesame Street. They had even watched the ones from the holidays and it wasn’t even that holiday. She knew there were only a few left that they hadn’t seen.

      Sighing she pulled into the movie rental place and braced herself to see the big yellow bird on the television that night. She couldn't’ help but enjoy them herself. Anything that gave her time with her son.

      Ok. Let mommy order the pizza and it can cook while we look for a movie.

      Ok. His voice came to her from the backseat where he was tucked safely in his car seat. Her son was little. Smaller than most boys his age but it didn’t stop him. He still climbed and did everything that any other boy did. Sometimes it just took him longer.

      She quickly called the local pizza joint and put in their order before pulling herself from the car. She quickly made her way to the back of the car and helped her son out.

      That night they enjoyed pizza and another movie filled with furry animals that talked. As he fell asleep against her on the couch and she couldn’t help but smile down at him.

      He was everything to her and she couldn't see life without him there with her. She thought of how different her life was than what she thought it would be as she carried him to his bed sometime later that evening. She had imagined something different but was happy with what she had.

      Travis snuggled down into the bed as she tucked the blanket in around him and kissed his forehead.

      Love you baby. Good night.

      Goodnight. Love you too mommy.

      Those few little words warmed her heart as she made her way back downstairs to clean up from dinner. She hummed to herself as she placed the dishes in the dishwasher. She would start it in the morning after she got up and while they were getting ready.

      After checking on Travis once more and locking up the house downstairs, she made her way to her bathroom. She wanted a long hot shower. She knew the next few days were going to be strenuous. They were bringing in new manager trainees.

      Liz was happy to be the general manager of a store that brought in more revenue than a couple of the others combined. She knew the location may have something to do with it, but she also liked to think that she contributed to its success as well. Harold's was one of the biggest department stores in the state and had over 50 stores at the moment. There was also word of expanding out into other states as well.

      She quickly stripped her clothes from her body and stepped under the warm running water. She looked down to where the water pelted against a nipple causing it to harden and pebble. That was one thing that she did miss. Sex. Since her divorce, she had less and less time for sex.

      Liz didn't have the time or the luxury to go out and find someone for the night. She was too busy and had too many responsibilities. One night stands just weren't an option for her and she didn't want to use the time and stress it would take to build a relationship. She just didn't want to pull time away from her son and she was tied up at the store constantly. It just wasn't something that was in the cards right now.

      Shaking her head to get rid of her thoughts she began soaping up her body and quickly washed her shoulder length brown hair. Within a few moments, she was dried off and slipping on her shorts and tank top. She wasn't tired yet and decided to pull out her book and read in bed before she got tired. It didn't take long before her eyelids began to droop heavily and she was fast asleep.

      Chapter Two

      The next day she made her way into her office and smiled when she heard a little voice coming near.

      Mommy, Mommy guess what? You have that new robot I wanted.

      Really? Well, what do we need to do then?

      Oh, we have to tell Santa. Yes, I have to be a very good boy and tell Santa that I want the new robot. If I do what I’m told then he will bring it for me. Come on Britney. She watched and waved back at the woman who was currently being carted off in the opposite direction.

      Everyone is in the conference room for you, boss.

      Liz looked up to see Lewis standing in the doorway. Lewis was the assistant manager of the store and one
