Gabrielle Hass, Mezzo-Soprano, is currently in the process of receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Ms. Hass’s operatic credits include the roles of the Fairy Queen (Iolanthe), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Omega (Le Cadi Dupe), among others. She has performed numerous solos and leading sections with the UW-Oshkosh Chamber choir, including the quartet of John Corigliano’s Fern Hill and Erich Korngold’s Four Shakespeare Songs. Ms. Hass’s teaching experience includes two years of music tutoring, as well as Solo and Ensemble work with the Appleton, WI, school district. She is a member of the UW-Oshkosh Chamber Choir Council, as well as president of the Oshkosh chapter of the Student NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) organization.

    So it turns out a lot of people want to know who they’re receiving advice from before they read an entire book. I’ve been doing this whole music shebang for about twelve years now, and have been running the blog How To Music Major for about a year, recently acquiring a new domain for more accessibility. I’m going into my fourth and FINAL year of my vocal performance and music industry undergraduate degrees, a speed which, let me tell you, does not seem to be the trend among my friends. I have two majors, I’ve taken, on average, 19.4 credits per semester in my time in college, and I’m going to graduate summa cum laude. I’ve also worked a 25 hour work week for the past two years.

    I’m not saying this to brag. I also forget assignment due dates if they’re not written down, I live primarily on Cheetos some weeks, and I once wore shower shoes to class because I just hadn’t noticed I wasn’t wearing sneakers.

    The reason I’m putting this all here, at the beginning of this eBook, is because you need to trust
