      Another day, another dollar. Finally, work was over; it was time to get home and get ready for a bit of Thursday night clubbing. I felt a thrill of excitement as I waved my colleagues away and headed home to prepare for my night out. I felt like I was in college again, I hardly ever went out on the town anymore, let alone clubbing and had been planning this for the past week.

      I fitted into a small black dress when Tessa came over. She looked great in an electric blue slip dress with matching stilettoes. Her bright red lipstick made her plump full mouth the centre of her face. Tessa was tall, thin and fabulous, at the moment her hair was a light purple, but it often changed. She hugged me, and we both screamed excitedly like idiots as she came inside.

      I had known Tessa for a few months now; she was flatting with my best friend Sarah, who had to work the night shift. I had been disappointed that she couldn’t make it, but we would be out on Friday together anyway. Tessa, unlike Sarah and I, was still able to enjoy regularly hitting the town, she had just turned 23 and was full of energy.

      So Dawn, are you excited about tonight?

      Hell yes, I’ll just do my makeup, we should have a few drinks, go to dinner and start in High Flyers.

      Perfect.

      Close to midnight we finally arrived at the highlight of the night. The well-established, and popular among the students crowd, nightclub, High Flyers. I could hear the music thumping and vibrating beneath my feet as we entered. Already slightly tipsy we made our way through the throng of sweaty bodies to the bar, Tessa pushing me along, I never felt so short than when I was out, in the middle of so many other people.

      We both ordered screwdrivers and started dancing when we got them. The bartender gave me a wink as we ordered, he wasn’t my type, but it gave me a little thrill. We danced to the rhythm of the music, dubstep blasting through the speakers at the DJ booth. There were plenty of guys around, but most of them seemed happy dancing together in their own groups, so me and Tessa started dancing closer together. She spun me around over and over until I almost lost my drink. I couldn’t hear it but could see her laughter match mine. We were both feeling great.

      After almost two hours of jumping up and down, I could hear a ringing in my ears and fatigue in my legs, but I kept going. A group of guys, closer to Tessa’s age than mine approached up. Of the three one immediately starting grinding against Tessa. She went along with it, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and grinding into him. I looked at the two other young men in the group, one put his hands on my hips, swinging both our bodies back and forth. He smiled at me, and I immediately felt relaxed. We danced together for about 10 minutes, his friend in the periphery when I noticed him looking around at the other dancers. He suddenly went still, looked over to his friend and made a cutting sign underneath his chin. Without so much as a glance, they were on to another group of women not far from us. Wow, that sucked. I looked over to Tessa, hoping we could move somewhere else, but she was
